Default Storage insurance

I called my insurance company (Nationwide) and asked about storage insurance and how to go about getting it. I was told that since the car is financed it cant be changed. For some reason I didnt entirely believe this. I live in Illinois and was wondering if anyone in illinois (or a state with similar laws) has storage insurance and what company it is through. Ive never stored a car before for the winter so ive no clue as to go about it...and with agents that tell me i cant get it its harder than i thought.

lending institutions have some sort of minimum coverage they must have. find out what that is and change it to that minimum coverage unless you have it already.

also change the deductible real high during those months you're sure you're not going to use the car. then put it all back come spring. your insurance should send you a check for the difference.

although my G and Z hibernate during the winter, my cars are under weekend (leisure) car coverage so it's pretty cheap to begin with. i dont do anything.
