Question Stuck on what to pay for a 370Z!

Hey everyone - forum is great... I have learned alot of things about this car and decided to join but I have a couple of questions!

First off I was looking at a 2008 350Z to buy used and found a couple with roughly 100 miles on them. Then I decided to search for the 370Z and found some more with 100 miles on them as well.

I know the invoice price of the 09' 370Z Base is roughly $28,000, and there is one close to me with roughly 100 miles on it and $1000 under invoice already advertised, with several other Z's on the lot as well. Since 09' is last year's model now technically, how much more should I shoot for a lower price on this used 09' since we are only about 2 weeks away from the calander year ending? I was also on edmunds and automotive.com and saw that the first year of depreciation for the 370Z when driven off the lot is roughly $4,900. Is this something I can pin against the dealer when trying to negotiate the price since it is almost the end of 2009 and the 09' model is last year's model now? I also saw in another thread that 370Z's with 100 miles on them are generally demo cars... Is that something I can negotiate with also to get them to lower the price? Or should I wait for the 2010 calander year and hope I can still find one with low miles like these and hope to save some money? I have always wanted a Z and figured this could be my opportunity to get a great price, but I figured I would ask the forum first to see what you guys think.

Also - if the 08' 350 with the same situation and low miles on it is a better alternative to save more should I go that route or stick with the 370? Thanks and Happy Driving!

I would say about a 2k difference from New to Used is typical. Also, you will get a better deal on an 09 then a 2010, especially if the dealer has 09's still on the lot.

You can negotiate anything you would like. You won't know unless you ask!

From what I am seeing Z's going for I would say you are going to pay a 3,000.00 difference in choosing a 09vs.2010

Personally the 370 is light years ahead of the 350 imo

Hope that helps a little.

You should shoot for the lowest price you can get. That said, you already know what invoice is and that gives you the knowledge you need when negotiating a deal. Can't get the price you want? Walk away. Just know that people are getting anywhere from 500 to 1000 under invoice which is good. I bought mine six months ago and go it 500 over invoice and was very pleased. I'd recommend you go drive the 350Z and the 370Z and you'll quickly realize that the 370Z is the car of choice choice both in looks outside and inside, plus in overall performance. The 2009 370Z is where the overall best deal will be had. Good luck and good hunting!

Unless the 350 is $7 or 8000 less, I would definitely get the 370Z. Drive them both, and you'll see!

I'm stuck on if I really need and want a $6xx car payment for 5 years. I haven't had a car payment for 7.5 years and I already have a fun car to drive (BMW Z3). Right now I drive a 248,500 mile, 15 year old Honda Civic to work everyday though and I may just treat myself to a 370Z. I never really had a real fast sports car.

These deals are almost getting to the point where they are too good to pass up. Decisions, decisions!

Thanks everyone!... Much appreciated

Quick question though... if the difference from 09' to 10' is typically 2k, what can i expect to get on top of that since the cars are used demo cars?

We don't have demos because there isn't much more that can be offered, but you can always take a shot at offering them $1000 less and settle for half that. It's only 100 miles from what you said, they're not gonna do much!

I thought I read another thread where people are getting '10s for invoice.

I've seen quite a few people saying that.

My deal was $500 over invoice for an ordered 2010, signed the papers this afternoon. My car finally arrived at the port and is due here next week. My sales manager has four 2009's he will reluctantly let go for invoice. He also said he'd be surprised if any dealerships in New England would be selling 2010's for invoice this soon, especially if they still have 09's sitting on the lot. Don't believe all the hype! Be informed, work out the best deal you can, and remember that your dealer is in business for a reason and that is not from selling cars at or below invoice on a regular basis.

Congratulations on your 2010. It's nice to see someone who understands dealers and business. While there are 2009 models for us to move, we would be looking to make a few dollars on the 2010, especially if you are ordering exactly what you want. $500 over invoice is a good price, ask them to throw in wheel locks for you!

Too late for for the wheel locks, but I'll try and talk them out of some PW touch up paint! Thanks.
