My dilemma between Touring / Base
If I go for a base, I can go ahead and buy now. If I go for the touring, I have to wait longer to save up some more.
What I HATE about the base is the utility box in place of the nav. No nav option available in the base. Touring with nav is almost $5-6k extra after adding state taxes. If something could be done in place of the utility box area later I'd love to do that in the future. I've asked around and looked around a lot, only found 1 person who stuck up an aftermarket screen in the utility box area, and that wasn't even in the US. Didn't anyone else go through this issue? My goal is to not spend the extra $5-6k right now, get the car in my hands atleast, and later invest money on aftermarket nav/audio.... but I really want to do it in the utility box area and not in the double din area of the stock radio. Comments appreciated... |

The storage box looks weird at first, especially if your first few looks at the Z included the Navigation system.
However, it's really not that bad. It's not made of cheap material, like the interior compartments of some other cars out there. Since our car doesn't have the sunglasses compartment up top, it's a great place to store those, a cell phone, a wallet, or anything else you want. My only advice is to definitely get something you're sure of, but 2009's (incluidng Touring models) are going at very good deals. You save up for several more weeks, and you might be looking at a higher priced 2010 model instead.

There is so little room in a 370Z, the nav was not even on my radar. I cherish that little empty box on the dash.

I bought a Chicane Yellow base with the sport package, and added the Eclipse AVN726 head unit with a kick a$$ gps system. I didn't want leather seats, even though I love the look of them. Here in AZ leather can get quite hot! Even with the installed price of the Eclipse unit being around $1500, I figure that I saved thousands, and I still have the neato compartment about the newly installed gps.
