Default Just ordered one

The biggest downside to ordering a car in this fahsion is you can't negotiate a price until the car arrives. (They can't apply any rebates/credits/etc). I talked to 4 dealers and none of them would budge on MSRP until the car arrives.

You may end up paying a bit more.

I've had decent luck in the past doing this with Jeep and getting @ invoice pricing.

I'm just guessing that they're attempting to get a higher price out of you. As I special ordered my 13Z in the end May of 2012 and it arrived the 2nd week of Aug. I was able to negotiate my price to a little above invoice, prior to ordering it.

Maybe I just had a good salesperson, as there were no issues in the process. Plus the price we negotiated, was the price I paid on delivery.

How do know what the invoice is on the car? About how much would invoice on a z with a msrp of 38k? I paid 19k for my sonata which msrp was 26k but alot of that was rebates and a lil negotiation by myself but i would have no idea what invoice would be.

Other rebates and incentives can lower your cost below invoice. I've attached Kelley Blue Book 2016 Sport Z invoice page, but you can basically research almost all cars there. 2017 Z invoice is still not listed there, but it shouldn't vary much, if any from a 2016.

Thanks. Makes me wonder how much a dealer actually makes off of a new car? Do they pay invoice for a car? Im sure they get credit for the incentives and rebates. I know they make alot more selling used cars.

A dealers profit margin on a car is not very high as its a large ticket item. However there are different type of hold backs (incentives for dealers), that will make their true costs lower than invoice.

Not always a rule but usually a good thing to know in the back of your mind. A hot, high in demand car will have very little discounts. While the 370Z is an excellent car, it is currently not that. You should look to pay around invoice, however that's still dependent on your negotiating skill.

I don't know why anyone would buy a Z new. There's plenty of used out there, all you need is a little patience and you'll get something you want for way cheaper anything you can negotiate at a dealer.

I ordered one and it came in after 4 months. Paid nothing down and purchased for $400 over invoice. Cash. 2 miles on the car when I took delivery.
