Invoice Pricing?

Has anyone seen what invoice pricing is on the 370z? I have checked around and have not found much of anything...Has anyone used VPP to purchase yet?

TacoZ 01-06-2009 12:41 AM

According to this CarMax deal, the invoice for a touring with sport package is: $35,305

Temple 01-06-2009 12:56 AM

That seems about right...Thanks!

The Weapon 01-06-2009 09:31 AM

I just Got Quoted Invoice+$500 = $37,983 for the following:

Magnetic Black
Persimmon Leather

6-Speed Manual
Sport Package
Navigation Package
Splash Guards
Carpeted Floor Mats
Illuminated Kick Plates
Carpeted Trunk Mat Nismo
Tint
Wheel Locks

I am in Tucson AZ. We have 2 dealerships here and both said they would need to factory order and I wouldn't get one until maybe March 31st.

Another dealership said they would match the price and discount $500 plus Maintenance For Life, which is: free oil change, tire rotation, lube and filter every 5,000 miles

If the other dealership matches I will go with them since there is a difference in sales tax. 6.1% vs 8.1%.

r6addict 01-06-2009 01:46 PM

You would thank that with sales at an all time low, the dealerships would be giving lower prices, but what gives? I give it 3 months and the prices will drop on the 370's. My dealership had 9 leftover 350's and will likely be sitting on them for a while

It doesn't matter where you buy the car, you pay tax based on where you live.

I don't know about that. They always advertise that you don't pay City Sales Tax at our Automall because it's in the County versus City of Tucson Limits.

ORGANIZATION SALES TAX RATE TOTAL SALES TAX*
State of Arizona 5.6%

Each district has their own rate depending on where you purchase items.
Pima County RTA 0.5% 6.1%
City of Marana 2% 8.1%
City of Oro Valley 2% 8.1%
City of Sahuarita 2% 8.1%
City of South Tucson 2.5% 8.6%
City of Tucson 2% 8.1%

I know a few family members that purchases cars outside the state like Oregon because they don't have to pay sales tax on cars.

Thanks for the great info...reps to you!

Do you happen to know the invoice for the touring?

You pay the state tax for the state that you live in. City tax is something totally different. Obviously if you buy the car with in a given city you have to pay the city tax as well.

Is it conventional to include the destination charge into the "invoice price"?

MC 01-07-2009 05:15 PM

most of the time its invoice plus destination tax titles license

That's cool. I wasn't doubtin you, I was just curious because I thought I looked everywhere :icon17: I've never even heard of samsclub doin auto price lookups. Great find!

r6addict 01-07-2009 10:36 PM

The dealership and factory still make plenty of cash on the invoice prices on cars. it's just not the 5-6K fat cut of 6 years ago from MSRP and above. Wow

So if the marketing campaign states that the car starts at $29K, why is it that invoice listed on the forum is $29K? Wouldnt invoice on a non touring non sport package 6MT be like $26k? There has to be an actual Nissan invoice price that's lower than MSRP, right?

I'm just confused as this non touring base model I'm looking at has an invoice higher than msrp--

no sport package either... 28K is actual invoice price, right? hmmm

**** Smith Automotive Group

I thought the invoice would be closer to 26 as well. If for whatever reason I do not enjoy my test drive comin up soon my plan be was to head towards Honda and test drive an S2000, which I love (have already owned one several years back), and their selling brand new 08s for 26k buy it now on ebay right now (msrp is 34k +).

Does anybody here know how sites like edmunds and samsclub get their numbers, just curious?

john370z 01-09-2009 06:23 PM

I am in negotiations now. Sport touring yellow AT with a few extras. $38,900 msrp. Asking for $3800 off to get it for about $35,000 plus ttl. I think that would be a pretty good deal even in 6 months. Any thoughts???

john370z 01-09-2009 06:25 PM

Sorry the numbers I gave were about a thousand high. MSPR is $39,865 and going for $36,000. Got too excited

The Geek 01-09-2009 09:34 PM

That sounds like a good deal to me. If they don't take it, I'd sit on it for a month or so...I can't imagine them not takin 3k-4k off sticker 2 months from now. I just don't think they are going to sell these things (or any other 2 seater sports car for that matter) anywhere close to stickers, especially considering that the economy is forcing the majority of car consumers to halt purchases for a while.

john370z 01-09-2009 09:42 PM

I got a best offer of $300 over invoice on a special order z. From what I am reading that seems to be a good deal. That is about $2900 off.

john370z 01-09-2009 09:44 PM

I just don't want to be hitting my head against the wall wishing I should have held out. Anyone know how much a dealer makes under invoice?

john370z 01-09-2009 10:26 PM

It seems that the best deal out there right not (that I could find) is $300 over invoice and that was for a special order z. Any thoughts as to when I'll be kicking myself if I go with it and could have gotten it for less in the near future...

2900 off equiped with what? sport, touring, sport and touring?

john370z 01-10-2009 12:36 AM

yellow, touing, sport, AT, by the way, only some dealerships are charging $500 extra for yellow.

john370z 01-10-2009 08:05 PM

Just found out that the dealership I am working with was wrong and that htere is a $500 yellow charge. They said they would honor the quote. That puts the price $100 under invoice. That's my deal... I'll let you know

I had the chance to talk to an owner of a Nissan dealership and he gave me the exact "dealer cost" of my car.

I had a nice informative post on my350Z on this topic, but it seems that the thread is no longer available.

Google "dealer holdback" and you'll get an idea of how much they make when selling at invoice. I believe there are a few other factors involved, but this pretty much tells you their cost.

MC 01-10-2009 08:44 PM

i think hold back is what 3%?

Per the other thread and edmunds it's 2%, but from another website, "2% of Total Invoice for holdback+ 1% of Total Invoice for floor plan allowance."

All in all, I'm perfectly content with invoice for the most part or maybe even a few hundred above especially if the finance rates are very good.

Are you picking up a 370Z MC? It could be your DD and maybe mod it with something other than Nismo if you're not a fan of their aero kits so far.

GT-R man 01-12-2009 02:06 PM

I work for a Z dealership In southwest louisiana, and the taxes are based on where you live not where you buy it from "when buying cars" if you buy merchandise over the counter you will pay the local and state taxes for that place. Your family members that dont pay taxes in oregan probably pay for them cash if you pay that way you can choose to pay sales taxes later. If you cross to another state in order to have your car legaly lincensed you must pay the sales tax of that state. So if you live in LA and buy a car here you will pay 4% state taxes, if you move to AR you will have to pay an additional 5.6% sales taxes in order to legalize your car in that state.
thats how it works
