Rev-match worth it
I am in the process of purchasing a new 370z. I was speaking to a sales rep during my most recent test drive and was trying to tell me that the rev matching is only good for racing.
I was set on getting a coupe sport for the nicer wheels, rev matching, and the Bose. But if the rev matching is only useful for racing then maybe not worth the extra $$. Opinions/ advice/ truth? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
Wheels and brakes alone are worth the premium

This, plus the diff. Buy the sports package. It's more expensive to try and do it later. |
:iagree: the Rev-match is the lesser of the upgrades to the sport. I personally would rather be able to rev-match the engine myself.
Those sport wheels alone I've seen go slightly used on this forum for $700-$1000 |

You know I forgot about the diff and the breaks. Thanks for the insight.

Which dealership was it - Falkner or Brenner? BTW - welcome to the forum... :hello:

The wheels alone are nearly the value of the sport package. The best part of the package in my opinion are the breaks, as they grab hard. As for the rev match, it's ok, might help save your drivetrain if youre not great at down shifting smoothly.

Rev match is worth it.

sport #1 in my book

if you never had a Z with rev matching you need to get it just for the experience, i had one for 3 years and decided that its not for me and bought a new Z without

Its so worth it. My first 370z was base (See Signature Below). My second 370z that I have now is so much better. The diff is worth it. The brakes are outstanding, the wheels are better looking, wider and bigger, and the RevMatch is amazing (Love the sound it makes when it downshifts). Get the Sport for sure, you wont regret it. |
The rev matching is fun. Disable it when you don't want it, enable it when you do. Personally, I enjoy the effortless downshifting when overtaking on the freeway.
If you've got a good aftermarket exhaust, the second gear downshift when coming to a red light / stop sign sounds like a gunshot. |
:iagree: with all!!!
rev match, wheels, brakes, diff, front chin and rear spoiler are all worth it! |
It's very worth it. Forged wheels, Better brakes, and differential are all worth it. Considering it is only like a 3k option it is a no brainer. All of those things would be very expensive to do later! Do it for the differential if nothing else, unless you like one wheel squeals.
The rev match is awesome, you can be lazy as you want with casual driving and never have a jerky shift. On the track I am sure it will improve times for the average guy like me. I have yet to take mine to the mountains but I can only imagine how fun ZDAYZ will be this year coming from a 350. If anything the sport package will help resale value down the road if you ever decide to get something else. It's kind of like buying a 4wd truck, it might be 3k more when new, but 10 years later it will be a lot easier to get rid of the 4wd version. |
Hey yeah
|
bobbylight is spot on. The rev match is flawless, even if you change your mind on which gear to go to.
I personally went with the sport pgk for the wheels/brakes/lsd. Everyone comments on the red calipers and fat **** rear tires |
Rev matching is worth it for me. I enjoy it. Use it when down shifting offten. I hardly turn it off.
|
REV Match is a must on this car in my opinion. Down shifting is so smooth and effortless. I have it on ALWAYS. Once in a blue moon, I turn it off, just to see how horrible I really am making those transitions (downshifts)
|
worth it
like everyone has said the diff and brakes sell it alone. Not to mention the wheels and rev match. definitely worth it.
|
Well I finally got her!
After driving it most of the weekend, I think that the way that I drive now, especially during this break-in period, that rev matching is something for more aggressive driving. I tend to throw her into N a lot and with the matching on the blips are a little annoying. Maybe as I really start to open her up, I will appreciate this feature. BTW, all of the other upgrades are great. Those brakes kick a$$. :driving: |
Congrats!!
I seen Nissan is offering the 0% interest this month and I'm a little pissed I missed out on it but we had some nice weather in march and I couldn't hold out. What color did you go with |

If you know how to drive stick and match anyway, rev match is pretty much useless. I leave it turned off. If you drop into neutral for stopping at the lights, it will gun the engine up thinking you plan to shift into another gear - ugh. Don't freewheel the engine please.
The diff is great, the brakes are fantastic, and the sport wheels are nice. Definitely worth the small cost. The brakes alone do it. |
Some cars are more difficult to rev match than others. I recently test drove a 2016 camaro 2ss. It too has the rev match option. I found it difficult to manually blip the throttle, it seems there was throttle lag or the throttle didn't respond right away. The 2015 version of this car was easier to blip. Had the same problem with a 2015 mustang gt (haven't tried the MY16 yet).
With the G & 370z, throttle responds immediately when blipping. ymmv |
I usually turn mine off for DD, but on the track or "twisties" it really comes in handy as my heel-toe skills are lacking...
|
I like the rev match. I'm DD'ing my nismo and drive it in some stop and go traffic at times. I'm the opposite of Mults on this. Being able to be half awake and not worry about downshitting is very nice. It is easy mode, but it is [CURRENT YEAR], so why the hell not?
I'm sure it'll be nice when I take it to the track. The pedal pack is mega easy heal toe friendly so I may not even use it on the road course. |
i love the rev match. especially when downshifting or just coming to a slow it gives the car so much of a smoother feel.
|
I drive my Z daily and wear steel toe boots, so it's impossible to heel / toe so the rev match is wonderful, weekend with sneakers I shut it off to play with the gears :driving:
|
i never even put it in sport mode
|
Little known fact - if you change your final drive ratio from OEM the rev-match no longer works. After first downshift it is disabled and you lose your gear indicator also. Will turn back on after engine restart.

It should be against the law to sell the Z without SP!!!
That would be a very useful law Mr Trump No sports car sales without real sports car options as standard. The base brakes are too abrupt even for aggressive driving. U need lsd. N SRM is great for smooth downshifts every single time... don't believe the hype. |
Forgot about this thread. The Ecutek updates DO have auto-blip now, I'm just not sure if it can be activated on non-sport models i.e: base. Been meaning to ask Seb but keep on forgetting when emailing logs and tunes back and forth.
|
I don't think the auto-blip from ecutek is same as the synchro-rev. I tried that function from another car with ecutek, it basically kinda blip the throttle during downshift, but it's more of an estimate than a perfect rev.

Rev match was definitely worth it for me. I still remember the look on my nephews face when I took him for a spin and he was amazed at how good I was at matching revs on downshifts.............LOL.
