Some are not understanding federal tax properly. There are only 3 rates for most people. You pay 10% on the income up to $8,350, then you pay 15% on the income between 8,350 and 33,950, and then 25% on the income between 33,950 and 82,250. So getting a write off of $3000 will save you $750 if you make over 36,950 (33,950+3,000) and only slightly less if you make under that. The tables in the back of the 1040 forms show a different percentage for each income level because they don't go into this detail, because many people won't understand or calculate it properly. If you make 78k/yr and you can take off 3K in taxes, you'll save 25% of the 3K regardless of what your overall/average taxation rate is since that is just a mix/average of the 10%/15%/25% rates that are applied to different proportions of your income.

buying out of state
hi guys, i am a New Jersey resident and i wanted to know whats been your experience buying out of state with regards to paper work and stuff.
is it easier to just buy within the state you reside in, or is there no difference if lets say i buy in another state (lets say NY or PA). i only ask because, i want to be able to go to a dealer, give him all my info, come back in couple of days and pick up the car with title, license plate and everything done. (i'll take care of insurance myself, of course) but was wondering what are the realistic expectations i should have concerning paperwork. if these services are not offered by dealerships, let me know as well, or if there are hidden fees, or if its actually just easier to get all this done myself. thanks! And if you bought in-state, your dealer can give you a temp registration and plates. A new registration will arrive in the mail in a few days. (At least in CT). If you have mandatory insurance laws (doesn't everybody at this point?) and you give your agent the VIN, they can fax an insurance card to the dealer and you'll drive off the lot the same day.

A to Z event
i believe this will be over this month (correct me if i am wrong), but has anyone been able to take advantage of any deals or incentive's regarding this while's this promo has been going on for the purchase of a Z?
anyone know of any black Friday deals happening that apply to Z's. just curious, i am real close to becoming a Z and trying not to miss out on any deals happening around this time of the year. the one dealership i went to said the nissan promo's did not apply to the Z's (370zsteve, there were no great deals that's y i did not post anything), but i was confused since the promo said A to Z. does anyone have any info on this? |

called carmax, and got this offer... is it any good
29,788 - new red 370z, sports, mat's and splash gaurd 1,649 - nissan extended warranty 6 years, 100,000 miles 99 - processing fee 118 - title $31,555 - total (will have to pay taxes later) only thing is i have to drive down to maryland here is the car also, the guy run my credit (after i was hesitant) and said i beat their usual rate of 7% and higher that they usually give, giving me 6. something, forget exactly, but said i could get a lower rate with another credit union. he also said if you run your credit check multiple times in 2 weeks, it counts as one check. can anyone confirm this as well. my credit is very precious to me...lol any insight will be appreciated. also, anyone have experience with carmax before? thanks. also, whats a good company for insurance? |

I bought out of state, went to Flemmington Nissan, my local nissan dealer pissed me the f&*# off. Now here's the dilemma, need to go in for the 6 month check-up, do I change the oil myself or dare visit the same service center? OP, buy out of state if you get a good deal it's not that difficult.

went to carmax today, took a look at the car, it only had 10 miles on the odo (from people test driving), red, sports package, mats and splash guard, with spare tires and everything. signed for it right there. opted out of the additional 1600 for extended warranty. car plus all fees were below 30k. got 6.75 financing (hope to pay off entire loan in 6 months anyway, so doesn't bother me much, they told me i could get it cheaper with my bank or credit union) car is parked in the drive way as i type.... beautiful. i guess i'll not get to test drive that GTR the car was unavailable because they held it for me. and now its home... the search for the Z has ended, and the drive of a lifetime about to begin. thanks to all for the info. I am now a Z |

These dealerships are really unloading! We've seen half a dozen that were $1500-2000 off invoice this month!
