Feb. '09 Car and Driver road test lists Differential and Oil Cooler Options
I read the road test of the 370Z in the Feb. '09 issue and noted in their options list for the car that they list a "differential cooler" and an "oil cooler" each an estimated $500 option?
Below is a picture taken of an early 370Z that shows what looks like a differential cooler oil line. What's up with this? http://i541.photobucket.com/albums/g...r/DiffCool.jpg |
Are they saying these were factory options?

Here is what it says on page 80 of the Feb. Issue of Car and Driver road test summary. Looks like C&D think it was a factory option...

Hmmm..... interesting!! I wonder if they had some aftermarkets put in, and printed them as factory options (wouldn't be the first time for C&D).
From previous reviews in Japan, the oil cooler is going to be needed for anything beyond spirited driving. The diff cooler is just added protection, IMO. Did they get the car on a track or just open road? |

I wonder if the coolers will really be Nismo "dealer install" options in the future. |
That's I'm waiting for more info on the Nismo. My thinking is that these will be standard features on that model. Granted, at a higher MSRP. I will be planning to do some track days.

looks after market

Some other reviews have stated that the cars they've test came with Nismo oil and diff coolers.
Japanese tuners who have had this car on the track can attest to the need for the oil cooler with temps reaching in excess of 270 F with the car in stock form. So it sounds like its a must if you're gonna track your 370z. Not very encouraging but I still want one. |
