The best time to buy it is when you you feel you're getting a good deal. The longer you wait, the more chance you'll have to settle for a color/transmission/interior that you don't like. Some colors/options are already getting super hard-to-find for the 09's.
If you can get one for 500-1000 less than invoice, go for it. |

But know this:
-whatever 2009's are left over is your selection -no dealer will dealer trade for you if it's a skinny deal i.e. a steal for you -good luck, but I'm imagining most 2009's are gone by now with the fact that 2010's should've replaced them |

In the Lower CT, NYC, NJ area, there are a sh!tload of Z's on dealer lots. I check the nissanusa.com site daily. 2010's aren't due out for a couple of months, I think. The closer we get to the 2010's, the better deals you will get from the dealers. They do NOT want leftover inventory on their lots, and Nissan will undoubtdly give them incentives to move them. The "skinny deals" you mention don't have as much to do with Invoice as they do to true dealer cost (holdbacks, incentives, etc).

There are a lot of 7AT's out there, for sure. But I still see quite a few 6MT's, at least within 100 miles of my zip code.

I can tell you Memphis (not far from you) does have a few, but the vast majority or Touring, with a handful of Touring + Sport, and a few Base models...and most of those are silver or platinum graphite...and most of THOSE are automatic. If that sparks your interest...

There are a lot in PA too, but I have noticed that Touring+Sport is getting a bit rare.

Keep in mind that it's not only when, but also where. Some dealers will be more willing to give deals than others, so make sure you contact as many dealers as you can.
And check the mileage on the car, you may find some have been sitting on the lot for awhile and have accumulated a lot of miles. Personally I don't mind a few miles but I did come across one with more miles on it than I put on my car last year. |

Depends on the location and dealer. Someone with 15 Z's on the lot will be able to go 500 or so below invoice easily. Someone with 1 or 0 may only be willing to go 500 or so above invoice.
Also depends on the models. Nismo is still going for close to sticker, sometimes as low as 0-500 over invoice. On tourings and base/sport, you should have a little more wiggle room. |
