Need buying advice.
Looking for $20k-ish, part-time Roadster. Not strong on 7AT or Man either way fine. Love to have Touring/Sport - but Sport not necessary. Either way on Nav. Would be my first Z.
So, experts - what do you think of this: 2010 Nissan 370Z Touring, $22,990 - Cars.com Too many miles? Price fair? What should I find out/inspect/know before buying? I would travel to Miami and drive back to midwest. Thanks for tips/advice/thoughts/suggestions/warnings/help! |

Not trying to be a jerk, but this is the 6th thread or more you posted asking the same questions on this car.
The earlier models have a couple issues to watch out for. First, the steering lock, it will sometime malfunction and leave you stranded. Do a search on this. Second, excessive oil consumption causing engine failure. Again, research this topic while you're at it. A third issue is the rag top, it's a piece of ****. Expect to pay thousands out of pocket to get it replaced. You can ask the guys in the roadster section more on this subject. If you like it enough, go check it out and test drive it! And if you don't know how to inspect cars, I suggest hire a mechanic for a couple hours to come along. Check out truecar.com and see how much others in your area paid for for the car. But like i told you in your previous thread, don't be fooled by the upgraded brakes, they really are just plastic brake covers found on ebay for $20.

Go to dealers and if you have good credit go do yourself a favor and buy a new one. No risk of car problems. Whatever your monthly budget is, buying a new one will be about the same, just a longer commitment. My original plan was to buy a used to, but a good friend of mine walked with me into the dealers, found a BRAND NEW 2013 370z PW Nismo with only 100 miles on it due to test drives. And I got a mad deal on it, and it was only 10 more dollars a month over my budget. An extra year of payments of what I would have preferred but I do not regret it on bit. Hurry up and go do it and join the community.

Thanks for the comments - always helpful to hear from experts.
Zbrah - it's the 3rd thread - I posted once in the 370Z For Sale section - once in the Roadster section - and another member suggested I post here - so, I did. Three. Thanks again. |

You won't regret getting a Z if you want a good sports car, and also something that looks sexy as hell. It will definitely catch some attention. Just remember it is a 2 seater and very minimal trunk space

and btw, 41k miles for a 2010 is pretty low, as it should be around the 75k mark according to industry standards of 15k/year. also, not all the earlier models have the issues that others speak of. just really do your research and test drive a few times prior to buying. |

New Car Pros: -COULD have better peace of mind than used (your comment about no risk of car problems isn't necessarily true - some new cars could be lemons). -you know what has/hasn't been done to the car. -you know the car history. New Car Cons: -depreciation -depreciation -depreciation Who knows, the OP could be a brand new Z and then Nissan could come out with a hotter model and the OP could want to trade soon after, which in this case, would be extremely unfavorable for the OP since s/he would be so upside down on his/her loan, unless they have the $ to make up for it. btw, i would NEVER buy a nismo, or a brand new car for that matter, with 100 miles on it. 100 miles is quite a distance and you never know what those previous test drives could have included. |

Let's review. When did I ever say I'd be more worried about 100 miles vs 40k? I'll dumb it down for you: the comment I made about never buying a brand new Nismo, or a brand new car even, with 100 miles on it was something I was piggy-backing off of another post to where he mentioned about his vehicle. It had nothing to do with influencing on buying new or used, but rather a personal preference that I would never buy a new car with 100 miles on it (i.e. meaning 100 miles on a brand new car is too much). Let me know if you need me to water it down even more. |

Ouch Vtec, so mean hah. I thought we all were just chatting here. You young kids with your Zs are so aggressive lol. I think I got your preference now tho Vtec. 100 miles on a new car is too much and alarming but 51k miles on a 6 yr old car is just fine. Got it.
All jest aside OP, I agree with Getpho. For a little bit more money per month and/or a yr longer commitment you can definitely find what you're looking for YEARS newer and/or with much less mileage. It helps that auto loan interest rates are pretty low right now. I did a quick search for you and there's a few options that are newer with 50%-75% less miles than the one you're looking at. I'd gladly help you find more if need be. Just depends on how firm you are with how much you'd like to spend. |
