My Journey Continues - disounts, rebates, buying used...
i'm looking to purchase a Red 370z with sports package and no other options this december.
i have read up on a lot of good stuff on this site, regarding tips on negotiating, what to look for and things to avoid. i am gradually researching and trying to see if i can get a fair price for my car. initially, i was looking to purchase a brand new one, but since the 2010 is probably around the corner, it makes no sense to purchase a brand new 2009 370z. ( i am not interested in the 2010 since it doesn't offer much of and upgrade) i received an invite in the mail today: "It's the Fred Beans Nissan Tent Event going on NOW at Nissan of Limerick! Big top Fred Beans deals like... 0% APR for up to 60 mos.!**, AND NO CHARGE Maintenance Plans!† i quickly read through the disclaimer and realized this was not for me. either way, my question is, from now to December, should i be looking at dealerships for what i am looking for, or should i just try and find a private seller who has what i want. i ask because it seems as it these discounts and rebates are not going to be applied on used cars (i may be wrong) where is the best place to go to find a private seller, and what would you say is a fair price for a used 370z with sports package only by the end of this year. thanks in advance. i know the event had nothing to do with my question, but threw it in there since it just popped up in my inbox. makes me wonder, are we going to be seeing more and more of these rebates, discounts, 0% finance promotions more and more as the year comes to an end? I was just contacred by Colonial Nissan , right down the street from Fred Beans (Jason Freidman ids the GM) about a tent sale.
370Z's in stock (about 5) going for at or below invoice. Only problem they don't offer the Z config that I want |

The typical used car is marked up about 5 to 6k. Im not sure if that applies to the 370z since it is a wanted car. That to me means it could be more. Your right about the incentives and rebates for used cars not being available. But I find it alot more beneficial dealing with a used car price. I used to sell used cars in MD. The best time to buy a used car is at the end of the month around the months of oct-Dec. Most dealerships are trying to reach a quota or units sold to get their bonuses. So they will more likely be flexible on the price. They also hold anywhere from a half percent to one percent of the apr you qualified for Example: They showed you 6.5% you really got 5.5 to 6%. So tell them you know that. I always low ball them because its a starting point. You never want to go in at half-way unless you want to end up paying 3/4 of what they want. Lastly dont hesistate to leave. they need to sell you that car more than you need to buy it. Hope this helps.

Don't settle for something you wont be happy with. Do they have an upgraded version say the basic touring with your SP. Let them know you dont need all the fancy stuff like leather and navigation, and that your wanting to buy today. They might just work a great deal on that one. |
