Really stupid question, but tonight my son (4 years old, 32 pounds) and I went for a ride for the first time in the car. I expected the automatic airbag light to come on saying the passenger airbag was off, but it did not. Do I need to do something to make sure the airbag is off when he's riding with me? I thought it would be weight sensitive and do it automatically.

Also, only because I'm tired of reading the manual, does this thing take regular or premium? Thankfully, I was at least able to figure out how to open the fuel door .

from the owners manual...page 1-32

If the passenger air bag status light will not
illuminate even though you believe that the child
restraint, the seat belts and the occupant are
properly positioned, the system may be sensing
an unoccupied seat (in which case the air bag is
OFF). Your NISSAN dealer can check that the
system is OFF by using a special tool. However,
until you have confirmed with your dealer that
your air bag is working properly, do not transport
a child in this vehicle.

Found the gas requirement...91 octane or higher.

As far as the airbag thing goes, I traded my other car yesterday, so I don't have another form of transportation. Tomorrow night I have to go to the dealership and my son will be with me, so I'm going to ask them to check this. This is extremely important.

I don't understand why the light wouldn't be on. Isn't that the point of having the airbag light?

ya it should illuminate...

have you tried putting your son in the seat and cycling the seatbelt to see if the light comes on while the z is running...

I've tried:

1. Car off, put son in, buckle up, turn car on.
2. Car on, put son in, buckle up.
3. Car off, put son in, pull belt all the way out, buckle up, turn car on.
4. Car on, put son in, pull belt all the way out, buckle up.

The light doesn't come on. It comes on when the car is started, but goes off, regardless of what sequence I try. I'm definitely going to get the dealer to look at this.
