STILLEN GT-R In-Car Videos from Targa Rally
Hey guys.. we've been a little busy at STILLEN over the last 9 months, preparing our GT-R to run in the Targa Newfoundland Rally which happened a couple of weeks ago..
Pleased to say we finished 1st in the Modern Class, and took the Manufacturers Challenge for the event. Steve Millen (founder and owner of STILLEN) was insane as usual driving the GT-R through some tiny towns, wet conditions, and had a complete blast. Just wanted to drop these first 5 videos (there are a bunch more stages we just need to render) from the ChaseCam footage.. We're all enthusiasts just like you, and R&D, testing, and development insight for our products comes from racing and events like these.. Day 1 - Placentia Stage (wet) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nXf0ofFTvQ [YOUTUBEHQ]7nXf0ofFTvQ[/YOUTUBEHQ] Day 2 - Gander Stage (basically a housing subdivision, all 90 degree turns) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54Dd8TNHzuI [YOUTUBEHQ]54Dd8TNHzuI[/YOUTUBEHQ] Day 3 - Greenspond Stage (fast stage, tiny roads) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQuxXx6zlBc [YOUTUBEHQ]dQuxXx6zlBc[/YOUTUBEHQ] Day 4 - Mooring Cove Stage (not all the turns were marked!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAwipjcGi6A [YOUTUBEHQ]cAwipjcGi6A[/YOUTUBEHQ] Day 5 - Brigus Stage (Steve's favorite, tiny town, tiny roads, raining.. ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkpmiyWXd3c [YOUTUBEHQ]MkpmiyWXd3c[/YOUTUBEHQ] Let us know what you think! |
love it! almost caught that guy in the first vid! must be a lot easier when you get near enough the guy in front of you that you can see where to go next... otherwise you need a really good co-pilot... never done rally myself, and never imagined I'd see it in a neighborhood like this ! they must have no attorneys there !

Damn that looks fun....thanks for the vids

The entire towns in Canada shut down for this event, they love it, and hang out on their porches and overpasses to watch all of the cars tear it up through the town. As you can see, it can be kinda sketchy, with cars on the sides of roads, potholes, gravel, fences.. THE OCEAN.. haha! The instructions called by the navigator aren't like the WRC rally stuff, they have full pace notes, and pre-run the courses so they can call out the exact turn, what speed or gear, etc. This is different, you're given a book which notes just where to turn, and sometimes a caution which is a hazard you'd HAVE to avoid.. everything else is up to you. The navigator this year was Mike Monticello, editor of Road & Track, and did a really good job, he had never done anything like this. |
hey by the way, if you guys watch only a couple, make sure it is #3 and #5... both very tight courses and some great driving
Love how steve is cursing and panting in #5! lol... understeer and then, "bloody hell!"... lots of precisely controlled slides... looks like he could use a tighter ratio on steering... other than that, car and driver performed really well ! one suggestion... mount camera higher and get some clips for the radio cables :) |
When the coarse got wet that looked like ALOT of work. Good job! Really seems stressful trying to keep that thing poised with so much power + wet coarse. Gotta love AWD. Watching that video really makes me miss my scooby, or gets me thinking about buying a GTR LOL.

Those vids were great!

I got to run with this car on the track last Wednesday at H2R and ZCON09. With Mr. Millen. Boy is that car wicked.... :)

What an amazing country/cities to open up to host events like this. Hats off to those people:tup: |

Really amazing vids and some great driving through some narrow *** roads. My balls aren't nearly that big. Hats off to Steve and his co-pilot.
