ok on to the pics. first up are the two after i took my front bumper off (using digitonium's DIY...thanks). took a total of 12 minutes to do it ![]() ![]() here's a pic of my lovely girlfriend taking all of the engine plastics and strut bar off: ![]() so stillen, if u want to make a cool video like the injen girls, hit me up and we will talk business lol. and here's a couple shots taking all the engine dressings off and the stock intakes: ![]() and off comes the stock intakes ![]() and after popping out that plastic thing and cutting the hole bigger (which took my ever cuz i have a pos cordless dremel), here are the G3s in place: ![]() THEN...I decided to modshack this ho and add some routing...so here goes the ghettoness in all of its glory: this is the tubing i used (bought from ace hardware...17 bucks: ![]() took off the plastic backing behind the fangs and drilled down the plastic area so the tube could slide over it: this pic is it untouched. i pretty much filed up to where the metal is ![]() here is the tube with the included plastic fitment thing attached (spray painted black and cut shorter). the tube literally screws right in to the plastic fitting, and i duct taped it from the inside just incase. ![]() and here is a pic of it attached: note--it is attached by screwing it in to the plastic part above the hole (where the plastic backing used to be attached to) ![]() now both attached to front bumper: ![]() BUT...here is the downside guys. trying to put that bumper back on with that huge piping was very difficult. I therefore decided to take it off. it can be done, but i suggest using a 3" diameter piping. this 4" one just was too much of a cram in the front bumper. i routed it around and over the crash bar to prevent flow to the radiator, but i really didnt want to try to force the front bumper back on. So, i hope this helped if u want to DIY, just dont try using 4" dryer hose. Sometime when im bored in the future, i will take 2 on this mod and use a similar but smaller setup. as for now i am enjoying my G3s the way they are! Speaking of which, my impressions: Sorry, no dyno, but we've all seen various results. i made sure to drive it hard so the ECU adjusts accordingly. Sound: I couldnt hear too much of a difference, because i have berk test pipes. but there is a definite change of tone at WOT. it is much deeper and aggressive sounding. I LIKE! Power: Butt dyno approves. nothing drastic, but pulls harder in the midrange for sure. I might actually get my car dynod this weekend (time permitting), but i dont have a baseline. anyways, i am able to chirp hard in 3rd, which wasnt so prevalent before. I guess one way to judge will be this weekend when i race (not on the streets) my buddy's car--I use him as a progess bar. stock i got raped, test pipes im only 2-3 cars behind, so updates this weekend! Hope u all enjoyed. |
