Exactly! I went into the dealership wanting either Blue or Black or Red... then I saw the Pearl White coupe in person in the sun light.... that was the end of the other colors. Never had a white car in my life, then this comes along. Sleek, sexy, classy, and mysterious all wrapped in one. Throw in the tinted windows, and its over.

Well put! I hated the Z design until I saw a white one on the side of the road... end of story and I bought one

I saw a white one on the road when they first came out in 2009 and that was it... I had to have Pearl White with Persimmon.

The detailer took some pics and posted them on his Facespace, but the pics don't look all that impressive.
You really do have to see it in person.

They kindda grow on you don't they? yeah it's different in pics versus seeing it in person. I test drove a lot of other cars including bimmers and Mercs... still decided on the Z.

Yeah I detail professionally! Not so much anymore... been too busy with my real job, but it's very enjoyable. I can't wait to detail my Z this spring (winter here now)

I bought mine about the same time and already I managed to put swirls in the finish and smuge one area.. I need to do the entire bit with the polishing and swirl removal.. any one have any idea as to how long that will take?

FYI the reason no pic can do a white pearl justice is because it has very high dynamic range.. very bright in some areas and very dark in others ( tires) and there are very subtle variations in the finish picked up in bright sunlight that just cant be reproduced on a monitor and certainly not on photopaper..
I went to buy a Z and said that of all the colors I only would refuse white because to me it was boring....then I saw it and think none other can compare! Gets my attention without shouting and its attractive in a very sophisticated, refined way! YA!!

For a proper 3 step paint correction, you're looking at about 10 hours... This includes washing, claying, 3 steps of buffing, plus application of LSP. This is just exterior.

I agree with you. Your pic in your avatar (also in this specific thread) is what helped me to get the white color. The contrast with the leaves in the background was just phenomenal. So thanks to you, I now own a PW!!!!

Question for you.. what are the three steps of buffing/ I was thinking that I should use just two.. the very light swirl remover followed by the polish.. do you think i should start with a medium grade swirl remover? is that the third step? or is it adding a glaze?
Also maybe you or someone else could answer this; I saw some $16 car soap and some $7 car soap... now isnt soap the same and what is wrong with using the cheap stuff? I wonder if that expensive soap is just a marketing gimmick or is there really some reason why its worth the extra money.

You can stick with a 2 step polish, that's typical. Usually a good cutting polish/compound on an aggressive pad (orange), then follow up with a light polish on a much less aggressive pad (gray). I continue on with a jewelling stage, a much finer polish on a much finer pad (blue)... then proceed to do an acrylic glaze on top of that. So pretty much 4 steps. Then sealed with 2 coats of a sealant, then topped with the beauty nuba...

As far as soap... I guess soap is soap, but all my detailing products are not OTC, and available on specialty detailing sites. Just don't use dawn unless you're stripping LSP's!

Yes, I agree. Pearl white is beautiful and on a 370Z makes it wonderfull.
Somebody tell me where I can by the Rear Spoiler.
I´m in Europe for one week and then come back to Brazil. I´d like to find it here because in Brazil no chance.

I priced a bunch of chemical products but found out that Turtle Wax also makes similar products a lot cheaper. I know the games chemical companies can play but in your opinion are these specialty products really better or what? And do I really need an aggressive polish if I am only taking out swirl marks from washing? I was thinking of an ultra fine..

Can't you just order that straight from Nissan? Have it shipped to you in Brazil?
