there is no "convert to a higher res"... you need the original, full size, file. honestly dude, it sounds like you have great intentions but have no idea what you are doing when it comes to this. if you want to wrangle it and line up what pictures to use, that's fine but you need to have some understanding of what you are doing or the calender is going to look awful. unfortunately, i've done my own calenders like this for a couple years and they never seem to get many sales so i just quit trying. nor do i have time to put one together now, my life is simply too busy.

And about the resolution. The designer will take care of it. I never think about making any profit or anything like that. Just wanted to do something fun or something for the community. If we going to just quit. Then I think ask triple's to close this thread? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by Huan'z; 11-09-2012 at 05:35 PM. |

I've been lurking these forums for quite a while now, and I quite enjoy the community. As such, I will give you a little bit of advice in regards to this calendar project. 1) Price: A typical calender to have printed will cost you roughly $15-$20 depending upon design. They will also have a MOQ (minimum order quantity) of around 50. 2) Print quality: Print quality will need to be 300 DPI. Almost every photo uploaded to this thread so far is barely breaking 60 DPI. The front page photo's are also about half the size and quality required. 3) Photo Editing and Publishing: You have two options, once you get the photos at the required 300 DPI and size: A) You simply send them to a calendar production company, they will stretch, shrink or fit them to make them work and publish them on a pre-made calendar design of your choosing. This will have a cost of around $20 per calendar and they will do little to no after effects or touch-ups on the photos. B) You tweak the photos yourself, you design the calendar yourself. You bring your 12 pages of completed calendar art to a simple print shop or contract the work out. This will run you around $5-$10 per calendar and you will have much better quality of photos and calender depending upon the skill level of the designer. Also, a general rule is: You can never increase size, or quality of a picture. Trying to do so will result in very poor results. Please keep this in mind if you continue with this project. Feel free to PM me for any additional info or help you may need. Until then, I will continue to lurk -Brad Last edited by Cometx4ever; 11-09-2012 at 06:05 PM. |

start by making a new thread. calender submissions, no discussion. just pictures. set date to have the pictures in by. then lock/close that thread on that date. pick 20 of your favorites and make a poll for people to vote on the 20 pictures. top 13 vote totals get in the calender. should probably make a submission thread and date ASAP. this takes lots of work

To be honestly, not trying to say something bad or whatever.....
I will wait until the OP have a definite plan propose or post up in here before I put my interest in this thread again. Details I am looking for: 1) How do we choose the 12/14 pictures, poll or some other way. 2) Are we talking about a 2013 calendar or 2014? 3) If we are talking about a 2013 calendar, when is the deadline we have to submit the photos to the printing company? 4) What is the price? Is the seller/OP going to make profit? 5) OP should contact AK, frost, Triple's or Snake to see is it mandatory to be a vendor sponsor if members are paying cost price for the calendar, thus the OP is doing this project as a non-profit one time service. OP can save $69 too. 6) If OP is making profit from the calendar, (5) could be ignored, but how is OP going to compensate the members whose photo is being used? 7) Details/ Quality of the calendar, ie paper type, size, format. Since day 1 OP has not provided any of those info but just keep asking us to post photos. I suggest we need more details and updates from OP before we can have this thread to move forward. $0.02 |

Good luck having a nice looking calendar if this is the case. You are looking at 1-5 hours editing each picture (a lifetime if working with these iPhone pictures ) to have it look professional. As well as custom designing the actual calendar if you want the costs of these to be sub $30.
Some may have the skill and time to kill, but I wouldn't expect that to be the norm. Last edited by Cometx4ever; 11-09-2012 at 10:08 PM. |
