I know the rear spoiler creates downforce, (they are saying 150lbs at 70mph) but how does that effect 1/4 mile times and acceleration? does the downforce create drag, or does

I know the rear spoiler creates downforce, (they are saying 150lbs at 70mph) but how does that effect 1/4 mile times and acceleration? does the downforce create drag, or does it decrease drag, effectively lowering 1/4 mile times?? never understood that part.
