Nice video. Thanks.

"Manga comic looks?" I think I should take insult to that as a 'manga comic' lover. Same could be said about your facial hair mate.
I was surprised they didn't borrow the pink convertable Micra. That thing is a sin against nature. But the Hamster did look good in it :D |
Pretty nice, I like the comparison at the end. 1x Cayman S = 1x 370Z + 3x Pixo :)

I can't wait for the Cayman S vs NISMO 370Z comparos. That should be quite a contest.

I actually was seriously pondering a used Cayman S instead of the Z, but I really didn't dig the interior. It just didn't fit me nearly as well as the Z, and the quality of the dials, etc., didn't fit my expectations for a $60K+ car. Also, being a porsche owner just seems like it would be embarrassing somehow. Getting out of a Porsche just seems to say "I'm an annoying dweeb". |

Does coo pay translate into coupe? LOL :rofl2:
|
Think about it for the price difference you save between the two you could put an extra 10k into the Z and destroy the Cayman S.
|
Nice video. I actually obsessed over the Cayman S for about a year before it was time to make a purchase this February. The 370z won me over, and I chose it over a 2 year old Cayman S.
As much as I love Porsche's, I agree with what the video said... the 370z just looks mean compared to the Cayman S. Now... the GT3 or Turbo on the other hand.... but thats apples and oranges. |

I definitely thought about the Caymen before I bought the Z but in the end it just screams ”I bought a caymen because I couldn't commit for a 911". Personally I don't like driving the lowest tier model a manufacturer has to offer.
|
I like the fact that the 370z is bench marked to the Porsche cayman s; however, a porsche is still a porsche. Essentially you're paying for the name and performance behind the badge. I remember I was cruising through some Porsche forums when a magazine did the comparison between the two, and people had nothing but "fan boy" remarks to say about the Porsche.
I think as a car enthusiast you should be able to appreciate cars such as the the cayman S and the 370z on different levels. |

I'd take a Cayman S over a base 911 any day. That lowest tier thing seems like a pretty BS pretentious excuse. The car doesn't scream that, the driver does. PS. The F430 is the "lowest tier" Ferrari... |
did he just said 0-60 in just 5.3 second??? Isn't it 4.7 .
|
Annoying to$$er, but he definitely got one thing right - It's ZED, not Zeeeeee.

I know that, again I was being facetious. Here in the United States of America we tend to do things a bit different. ;)

You're going to find far more annoying ricer type dweebs in the 350/370Zs because a lot more young drivers will be in them since it's a lot less money. I've been bumped up by more Zs and sporty cars in that price range than by cars in the Cayman's range. |
I too have been lusting for a Cayman S, until the 370Z arrived. I have yet to make my purchase. I've test driven '07 and '08 Caymans, both base and S models. Always with MT. I've driven their Tiptronic AT in a Boxster S and hated it. Nissan has done an excellent job with the 370Z and there is no better standard to strive for than a Porsche Cayman. A base Cayman costs over $50K, a full $20K over a base 370Z. In addition, the 370Z gives you more power, 332hp vs. 265hp in a base Cayman, more torque 270 vs 221, bigger wheels 18" vs. 17"($1235 for 18"), it's faster 5.3 sec 0-60 vs. 5.5, and HID lights ($1560 option on Cayman). The Cayman S starts at $60K, for that price you can buy a his and hers 370Z! The Cayman S, for all it's greatness is no where near twice better. Though, I do love it's engine sound!!

I don't like Porsche's pricing strategy (ridiculously overpriced, especially for options); I don't like their poseur image, I don't really like their fanboys, who seem to think Porsches are god's gift to the automotive world, and I don't like the fact that they have deliberately kept the best car they are producing (the Cayman) down, just so it doesn't infringe on their precious (and outdated) 911. I feel like owning a Porsche is usually (but not always) about just owning an expensive car, without having the means to go whole hog and get a ferrari or something truly beautiful (AM Vantage). Before people get their panties in a knot - yes, I've been to Porsche club track days and I've been very impressed with the cars and the drivers. Still, it is just a badge that I have never wanted on any car I own. A Carrera S was loping along in traffic next to me yesterday, and it sounded like a VW beetle around idle. For a 90K+ car, that's inexcusable to me. Those cars may sing as the revs rise, but they'll never sound like the aforementioned AM V8, a proper V12, or even the sbc in the Z06. Everyone has their version of automotive heaven, and Porsche has no place in mine... ...now a Caterham CSR - there's a true driver's car, without all the baggage. :driving: |
