Motortrend Drag Race - 370Z, Genesis Coupe, Mustang GT 03.16.09
|
Sweetness. I could have guessed that outcome =)
On a side note: They seriously need a new narrator. |
i wonder if they are counting 1 foot roll out for those 0-60 times since im assuming they are for the 1/4
|
Btw, the mustang still coming with a 5 speed? Hello, the 90s want their transmission back.
|
13.3 @ 107... that's awesome!
I can't wait 'til later this spring when I can take mine out to VMP to run the 1/4. I'll be happy if I can beat that .3. |

:icon18: One of my biggest gripes about this new GT. I mean, it's the best Mustang GT ever... by far... but c'mon! a 5 speed? I understand the solid rear axle because the average Mustang enthusiast leans to drag racing, but you'd think they could at least throw in a nice 6 speed. |
That narrator was terrible...
|
I hate that narrator. Did you guys watch his review on the 370z? omfg I wanted to cyber punch him square in the face.
|
Nice to see MotorTrend replicate the same 4.7 s 0-60 and 13.3 s 1/4 mile results as they got during their original test.
Makes me wonder though if they simply just reused the existing numbers or if they really did get exactly the same result. I hope so, the test car this time is red, the one they had last time was yellow. |
It's usually the average or if they were able to get those numbers more than once but I'm assuming that they got similar but not exact numbers this time around and decided to post the previous test numbers so that there would be no confusion .

Anyone know what the non-rollout #s are for the 370Z? Did Motortrend even test that? |

I have the Feb. 09 MT issue that covers their orignal 370z test review and I noticed it's not exactly the same result. While both tests show the Z with a 0-60 in 4.7 secs & 1/4 mile of 13.3 secs, the original test had the speed at 105.7 mph, while this drag race had a speed of 107.1 mph. The 2/09 MT issue also tested the Mustang GT. The original results were 5.2 secs and 13.7 secs, for 0-60 & 1/4 respectively. But in this drag race the Mustang improved to 5.0 s and 13.5 s. |

nice video
I felt that the Z is going to win the race . But the numbers for zero to 60 MPH i dont know i feel something wrong 0-60 in 4.7 seconds for the z |
I don't see anything wrong with that 4.7. If you get a good launch it's all yours, IMO.
I really wish we had more guys here that ran the 1/4 so I could take a look at their 60 foot times. The launch is what it's all about when it comes to getting the lowest ET. With these big, sticky tires on the Z I would think we would be seeing sub 2.0 second 60' times with a good driver. I know with my stock '03 Mustang GT I managed a 1.93s 60' on stock 245 goodyears, which was pretty much unheard of... some shitty drivers with drag radials can't even pull that kind of number. In any case, I'm hoping after some time with the car I can head out to the track and put down some solid numbers. I really want to see just what this car can do in stock form down the 1/4. It feels a lot quicker than my GT, which, at the time I sold it was running low 13s... it "feels" to me like a 13-flat car if all conditions are right. |
