370 Video :: 0-400m Battles

Seems like the 135i is faster in acceleration....bummer.

BTW...sorry if it's a repost but I haven't come across it yet here in these forums, so...

Hrmmm... I don't know. The guy that's driving the i135 is a faster shifter than the rest, but they all seem be slow shifters. Also, even though they're racing a base with no sport package, they're still not launching hard at all.

Look on Edmunds (and Motor Trend) who did testing against the 135i. The 370Z matched the 135i in the 0-60 and slalom. The 370Z was better in braking and blew the 135i away on lateral G's (grip).

Nice find, i haven't seen this on before.http://animepisodes.info/images/2aaa...dc081c6541.jpg

I can't see the video since I am using a computer behind firewall but is this the same video as this?

Yeah same video, it is a repost.

The 135i driver got 3 runs, the first one was 14, his best 13.6. I'll bet if the same driver did 3 runs in the Z he'd equal or better the 135i.

Crash 02-14-2009 06:26 PM

^^^ I agree. This wasn't a very good test. First time I drove at the track in the Trans Am, I went 14.2... But every run after was faster. I ran 15.0 in the solstice the first time, and then ran bottom 14's the rest of the day.

zsport1 02-14-2009 06:41 PM

I'd say the Z still wins with it's lower price tag. Edmunds.com seems to agree-

When the 2008 BMW 135i came to us, we found it to be one of the purest expressions of the BMW character since the 1971 BMW 2002 tii. Now that the novelty has worn off a bit and we've driven one for close to 15,000 miles, we still think it's a brilliant car. With a long-legged engine that's as happy at 2,000 rpm as it is at 7,000 rpm, this BMW is destined to continue to win comparison tests and conquest buyers for years to come.

The 2009 Nissan 370Z achieves the same sort of thing on the Nissan side. It's so improved in every way over the 350Z that it comes off like a completely different car. Think of the 350Z as a really long prototyping program or maybe an elaborate focus group process. It might have taken six years to work out the kinks, but man, was it worth it. It is both sports car and sport coupe, just as in Mr. K's original concept for the 1970 Datsun 240Z and very much as the BMW M3 has evolved. And it wins this comparison test.

We'll even go so far as to say that the 2009 Nissan 370Z now raises the standard for the sport coupe segment to a new level of affordable excellence. Its accessible performance alone is worthy of status as a benchmark. Its looks alone will bring people to a Nissan showroom. And the combination of the Z-car's reasonable price and fuel -efficiency (22 mpg EPA combined) will certainly get your attention.

The 2009 Nissan 370Z has the whole benchmark package wrapped up with a bow: price, exterior design, interior packaging, performance, features and that X-factor that makes you just want to go out and drive one, and drive it hard. Thinking of the Z-car as a sports car is one thing, but we can honestly say that there's not another sport coupe that can touch the new Z. Dare to compare.

2009 Nissan 370Z vs. BMW 135i Comparison Test on Inside Line

n1smo 02-17-2009 03:29 AM

Can't wait to test drive a 370z. The 135i is nothing more than an ugly shorter version of the 335i. I owned a 335i for a year and as much as I love that car, it left me yearning for more performance.

BTW.. Best Motoring did the same type of acceleration test between the M3 and the 135 and the 135i won, that was the last time I took them seriously.

XKR 02-17-2009 01:08 PM

The BMW 135 ist not a Sportscar, itīs ugly and "fat".
Not to compare with Cayman and 370Z.

dlmartin81 02-17-2009 02:58 PM

^^^ Everyone is entitled to their own opions but I disagree with you. I think the 135i looks nice. I don't see the fat and ugliness that you are describing. If I was in the market for a sporty 4-seater and had the extra cash for it, I would definitely consider it for myself.

But yes, it's not a sports car.

Whaaat....that's crazy. M3 should win that battle easily, I would think.

Crash 02-17-2009 11:52 PM

It was an older M3 and a brand new i135. Not a very fair comparison. That's like comparing an 89 Lambo to a 2005 Corvette Coupe.

Not a very good comparison IMO.

^ wow that was a really surprising result. To be honest I think it had a lot to do with the drivers and how well they hooked up off the line.

As far as the 135 and 370z, the N54 is a very potent engine and there is no question it is 'quick' but the Z will blow it away through the twisties.
And yes.. the 1 series is 'fat' but I would describe it more as bloated, since they made it shorter and taller than the 3 series coupe. Ugliness is always subjective but I think the taller/shorter proportions are what make it 'ugly' to me, along with the head lights. I find the 3 coupe much more appealing. JMHO.

Best motoring is kind of like top gear, its very entertaining but you have to take their head to head tests with a grain of salt because it usually just comes down to which car the hosts think should win.
