It is a piece of plastic that runs from side to side under the front end below the grill to deflect the air flow.

It sits below the front grill of the car as seen in this picture:

I decided to not have them install that on mine.

How come? It's supposed to reduce/eliminate lift.

Agreed. I am assuming bad roads or clearing issues?

I have already scraped mine coming out of a parking lot :(

semtex 02-09-2009 12:03 PM

Me too. Heck, I scraped mine coming out of my own driveway.

Its kind of lame to call a dinky little plastic piece a spoiler. They should have had a carbon fiber diffuser instead :D

frost 02-09-2009 09:09 PM

Maybe it would hold up to scratches better, lol

Yeah except the first time you scrape it on anything, the thing would shatter. Think of F1 cars -- they use carbon fiber, CF is really strong unless you hit it in a way it wasn't intended to be hit. Then it shatters into a thousand pieces.

at least its not hard to change if it gets messed up though just bolts on lol.

Actually, it is riveted on; the two side pieces are bolts on.

I was looking at a brand new Z on the showroom floor, the dealer probably only had it a few days. Noticed that the front chin spoiler already had scrape on it.

semtex 02-12-2009 07:57 AM

Yeah that doesn't surprise me. My dealership actually didn't install the front chin spoiler -- probably for that exact reason. It's going to be a lot of fun when people lower this vehicle.

Mine was in the trunk as well when I picked it up. The shop guy suggested leaving it off too. Sounds like one more thing that will sit in my garage.
