Breaking News: 370Z Best Motoring Video is HERE!!!

Yup, someone from Japan uploaded the video on YouTube. Big thanks goes out to him. I have already bought the dvd from Amazon.jp but they emailed me saying it'll ship during the week of 2.24.09 to 03.04.09. So, until then, feel free to discuss this one here. Enjoy. ;)

Pretty sure if Tsuchiya was driving the Z he would've placed first in it!!!

ssqpolo 02-06-2009 03:59 AM

dont worry about 1st or 2nd...look at the lap times! the Z trumped the cayman S in terms of best lap time (1:47 vs 1:46)...so go Z!! buttttt....the 911 beat them both. typically best motoring is really biased, and mostly for the entertainment, but this seemed like a good race. im glad this was posted! tks as always AK

batman_4 02-06-2009 04:11 AM

+1 Paradox

on another note...re-match between the 2 porches and Z is a must

I thought I was the only one that had that in mind! They are biased huh!
But the 370z KICKED ***! and looked good doing so.

ssqpolo 02-06-2009 04:25 AM

Not being biased... but moreso that Tsuchiya is a more seasoned driver with a lot of experience and track time. Who knows perhaps with him probably would've gotten a better lap time. I'm not a Japanese driver guru but simply watching past videos of him driving, he does come out with numbers better than most.

chubbs 02-06-2009 08:05 AM

Many thanks AK - That was a good watch.

Just proves there's not a lot between the top 3 - but I loved the way the Z handled tight corners - very composed.

Lug 02-06-2009 08:51 AM

I think the Cayman driver paid the S2000 driver a bribe! :D

sbkim 02-06-2009 09:28 AM

Did that Z have sports pkg?

OMGWTFBBQ 02-06-2009 10:01 AM

Yeah. I think the Z had the sports package. You can kind of see the wheels at 1:04. When they zoom into the Z sidemarker.

LiquidZ 02-06-2009 10:14 AM

These guys are pretty funny, even though I have no idea what they are saying.

The S2K was out horse powered in this race. The 370Z did great, like always it's the poor mans porsche!!!

dlmartin81 02-06-2009 11:11 AM

I like how the Z overtook the bimmer and S2K (at the same time) on the first turn of the track, on the 2nd lap. That was pretty sweet.

Yeah I believe it was the sport package because of the wheel but it didn't seem to have the spoilers though.

OMGWTFBBQ 02-06-2009 12:26 PM

I don't think I can spot the front chin spoiler either... maybe those weren't the sport package wheels after all?

batman_4 02-06-2009 01:57 PM

^ IMO i think it is the sports package. Who knows though maybe the wheels are an option or maybe you can get the SP without the wing

Nice vid. Thanks for sharing!

Black kNight 02-06-2009 02:14 PM

thanks alot for the video.
but the best lap time for the Z was faster than cayman S

sensi09 02-06-2009 03:06 PM

It probably would have been more tightly bunched if the S2K wasn't there.

Also, I wish they showed a vantage point from the 911 during the straights to see how much it gained on the Z. From the lap times, it looks as if the 911 could have easily overtaken the Z. But as mentioned, these videos are simply for entertainment.

Oh and I was somewhat surprised to see that the Z has a better power to weight ratio than the Cayman S.

BTW, was the 911 a plain old auto or did it have the PDK/DSG system?

Supergoji 02-06-2009 03:49 PM

it had pdk, the S2000 always loses in these matches.

and if the straight was a little bit longer the 911 would have come out in front.

Namir 02-06-2009 04:19 PM

It is definitely has the sports package because you can tell he is using the Synchro Rev Match (example at 3:26)

Doesn't the JDM Z have a different color scheme as for as the tailights are concerned?

NO, their (JDM) taillights are just like the us version. The picture you have attached is an "optional" taillight that you can buy or add on from the dealer in Japan.

Some of our sponsors are going to bring those tails here in the US. Feel free to contact them if you need a pair.

MC 02-07-2009 02:13 AM

do we have the vid of the SpecV part yet?

WShade 02-07-2009 08:51 AM

They hot lap it in the Mininova link listed above.

Wow cool vid.

For the acceleration tests, the 135i takes it from a stop, but the 135i along with all the other cars could have produced better times. It's interesting to see that the 135i produced it's best time against the cayman S, when the driver appears to have mis-shifted.

From a roll, the cayman S, 135i and 370Z look to be pretty evenly matched.

The S2K takes the braking challenge, with 135i understeering uncontrollably into a cone. For this segment, along with all the rest, I wish we could have a translation of the driver's impressions.

The Amuse Superleggera is just badass and laps puts up a best lap of 1:03.3. Meanwhile the 911 produced a best lap of 1:05.5 and the 370Z, a 1:06.7. For the closeup of the superleggera wheels, they are described as BBS LM-Rs, while we are clearly looking at Volks. Makes you wonder what other errors were made.

Oh and the GT-R Spec V was about 2 seconds faster than a regular GT-R for a ~2minute lap.

Come on guys if you really think the 370z will beat that Porsche. Drive a Porsche and you will know what good handling is.

The Z had a faster lap times than the Cayman s and surely would have passed it eventually. I suspect that was a 2008. The 2009 boosts HP by 25 hp.

It only had a faster lap time because of the driver. The Porsche will easily out handle a Z of all years in stock form. Drive one, you will understand. I drive a NISMO 350Z which is my track car and would love to own a Porsche over it even though my NISMO handles awesome.

The 370Z handling is very close and it has enough power to overcome in the straights. Once it got out of traffic, it was shorting the distance on the Cayman every lap, though I seriously doubt it will hang with the 2009 Cayman s . The 911 was the real winner but starting at the back of the pack on such a short race killed it's chances.

msl82 02-09-2009 06:55 PM

So it is true, our 370z is better than BMW 135.

Bring on the 335..
