Forged Performance Time Attack 370Z: Help us design our graphics scheme!
We are looking for some ideas for a graphics layout for the race 370Z. We have bounced many ideas off our heads, but I would love to see if any talented Photoshop people can come up with a catchy design for the racecar. It would be nice to integrate the Forged Performance colors if possible, but that is not required. Any takers? If we use your design you will recieve a check from Forged Performance for $250!

Have you guys looked at doing a vinyl wrap designed by a professional designer? Asking for spec work just is a little unprofessional IMO. Sort of like me asking you guys to build a motor for me for free but I'll give you a little money if I decide to go with it.

Racing teams, especially in NASCAR, do this all the time... They have contests where fans submit paint schemes and the best one gets their scheme on the car, a trip to the race it's run at, etc. This is pretty much the same -- the best scheme, if used, will have their design on Forged's race car and get $250.

Yes, please post the hi res shots and give us a deadline for when you need all submissions in and when you will make your decision.
Also, give us some specs on where you want the number placement, what company logos you want on the car, etc.

Yeah, it's called spec work. No offense but $250 isn't much to design a car scheme. Just because NASCRAP does it doesn't make it ok. I'd rather see them just hire someone in the community to design it for maybe parts or some sort of equal valued compensation. Honestly this type of stuff happens a lot and a lot of people think nothing of it but to professional designers it's a huge slap in the face. I'm sure someone will do that and that's fine but it doesn't hurt to try and educate people about it. NO!SPEC

I don't see anything wrong with it. I guess I'd have to be in graphic design to get upset about this -- but if I was confident that my work was that much better than some random Joe's I probably wouldn't even give a sh1t. I don't see how "professional design" is being devalued. If they are that much better, Forged would have already hired someone.

nothing wrong with a free market - if people want to contribute here they can right? if i had the pchop skills, would jump in and help...
quick input... suggest keeping it fairly simple... the RJN race car looked so so... i like that they were trying to set off the rear of the car somehow simple graphic on new 3.8 gt3 rs builds up front to rear and highlights fat rear fenders and flat side panels and not sure but maybe you can get some ideas off what folks have done with virtual custom graphics on forza 2 or NFSS??? |
