EPIC track day!! Passed a 911 GTS!
370Z Roadster? $48,000
Track day? $200 Passing a 911 GTS at 120mph? PRICELESS!! Thank God I have the video to prove it, too...no one would believe this! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I07QY2vBXHs |
If I owned a $200,000.00 911 gts. It would be difficult to drive 10/10ths next to someone i don't know in a $20,000 car on track at 120mph. I would let them have their glory as well.

He was trying. Why go to the track to not try?...
Sure, maybe take it easy in the corners, but everyone goes HAM in the straights. Just watch 90% of Vette drivers...there's usually a line behind them. They go slow as **** through the turns, where we're not allowed to pass, then give it the beans in the straight...where most of us CAN'T pass. lol |
I don't know, it's just that the GTS is lighter and has about 100 more horsepower than the Z.
I can't count the times a fart can civic thinks he was racing me. I just pace him and let him go. I'm sure you could find it in a kill section on a honda forum somewhere. |
The video was a driver beating another driver.
He legitimately passed the GTS, Z was earlier on the gas exiting at a wider angle, so the Z got a bit of the sling shot head start, kudos to longlivethez. However, car to car, keeping it real, a Z (especially in the heavier roadster trim) ain't beating a 991 GTS in a straight line anywhere. |
No offense LLTZ, but some people go on the track to do their own thing. Just because your in the same session doesn't mean they are racing against you. Even if you are racing each other, you claim your victory against the other driver. I wouldn't go on record saying your car is a 911GTS Killer. I agree with cv129.
Unless, of course, if you are trolling for subs. |
Lets see the enterer video. He was not even trying.
I love the Z but there is no way. Any one that knows any thing about sport cars Know that. No offence but there is a lots of people hear that knows better. |
I was at Wild Horse West track a few weeks ago. West is short track just over a mile long. Long story short, there was a guy there in a Cayman R that I let by me on two different sessions because I was holding him back. Yup, I would run away from him on the straight away but he would be on my bumper two turns later. His buddy was driving a 911 turbo and he could not keep up with either of us. So it's not always about the juice. It is about driving ability and what the driver's motives may be while on the track. If you want to get better or learn a new track, you don't do that at speed.

The kid inside me was very happy when I passed a fax machine on the track (MP4-12C). But we all know as long as we are having fun, not being recklessly fast, and not being ignorant of other drivers, it's all good. I mean I still can't beat the #1 spec Miata's time on my local track even though I am getting very close now.

I dunno how it happened. Never will, either. Dude left right after this and came back right before the second heat. Never got to talk to him. |
