He was going for 90-240 seconds of driving around in loose dirt.

Guys that take their car to the track put *far* more stress on their car.

So, to answer your question, sure I would, given the same check-over that I would give any used vehicle.

Oh agree about track stress, natch. However, if he did this mudman routine, why would I trust the guy to take care of it?

BTW, I would never buy a used, modded auto, any brand. Too much risk of getting something that had the snot beat out of it.

You were right saying that carfax would never show this kind of sh!t. In fact, carfax doesn't show a ton of stuff beyond accident damage. I once looked at a used Outback from a used-car joint in the area. They provided me with a carfax on the spot, assuring me that this vehicle "has no bad history". When I checked the engine numbers against the chassis and showed them that the engine had been replaced, they denied any knowledge of the fact. Whenever I drive by their lot, I always notice used engines laying around the bays. Buyer beware.

I think carfax also doesn't get "notified" if a car is taken in and paid for out of pocket.

With a high deductible (like what I have), if either bumper gets nailed, I doubt I'd claim it unless the damage is at least double my deductible - simply because I don't want to deal with a hiked-up insurance rate.

As for the owner, the same could be said for any used vehicle. I have the same perspective as you on used vehicles vs. new - I prefer to buy new because the only person who's f'd it up is me, and I know the history of the vehicle from very early on. That, and when I think of a used vehicle and how much I'd be willing to pay for one, that amount is ALWAYS less than what the asking price is, usually by enough to where I end up reconsidering getting new.

Why does everyone think that little stunt is going to break the damn car. I did it for like 90 seconds total.

No doubt, if the car breaks from that, it would have broken anyway...let alone what I said earlier about people doing what you did...on pavement...
