If you have a PowerPC Mac then run this free version: Adobe Reader 8.2

"unable to read the dictionary of the application or extension because it is not scriptable." I don't want to keep screwing around and do something negative to my Mac. I am not real tech-ie with this computer stuff, so I'd better back off before I do something I regret. But thanks to all anyway. |

The problem he is having would likely be even worse on a PC. It's a PEBKAC error!
Here is a compressed OS X Disk image file with the manual. If you can't open the pdf's in this then you have some serious software problems and should visit the Apple Store or grab a friend who's a Mac wizard. http://www.reprehensible.net/~sig11/...70z_manual.dmg There is never any need on MacOS to have Acrobat Reader. In fact the display in OS X is Display PDF! |

I doubt that, I use my mac for gaming and for school. I even run win 7 for when I have to work on other computers, the performance test shows a 4.2 rating which is very good for a laptop. I will stay with my mac even though I am in college for computer IT. My mac can run circles around most of the laptops I see at the college and is more stable, to me thats worth the price of a reliable mac.
OP you should download adobe pdf reader than try to download the manual again. I use to have a older mac that I had to get the reader inorder to read it.

Great comparison. I have several Apple certifications. Guess what I use at home...PC. Macs are kinda cool by all means. But apple thinks everyone's an idiot by limiting flexiblitiy to prevent problems.

0. Make sure you have the latest Mac OS X (10.6.x)
1. Install DarwinPorts (The Original DarwinPorts : Open Source Packages for Mac OS X) 2. Open Terminal.app and execute sudo port install p7zip # (enter your password when prompted) 7za e /path/to/manual/370Z_Service_Manual.7z You should be able to open any of the PDF's with Preview.app. This has nothing to do with Mac vs. PC, but just old software. |

Macs are designed for people who don't know anything about computers. For the price you pay for a Mac i could build a PC with 4 times the performance. Plus I think they are Ghey!!!!! Don't be deluded, Macs are not without thier issues too. It takes hundreds of extra dollars in software to make them somewhat compatable with what 95% of the rest of the world is using. Come on, using windows is cake!! If you cant handle it than a computer is not for you.

Woah now. Not to start a battle but that's just the typical load of opinionated Microsoft Fanboyism's I've heard. I've been "in the field" professionally for over 13yrs and messing around for 17yrs total. Worked my way up the ranks and have served my time in hell with disasters and such. Managed hundreds of Windows and Mac servers, and thousands of workstations during this time. I will say the Mac's have come a long way since the 90s with their incompatibilities especially since going with intel processors. Also, in the past you used to never be able to find a comparable application for Mac OS...Not anymore. I am now 100% Apple at home and 50% Apple in the office. If I need windows I just boot up my Virtual Box VM and have at it. Vista really gave me the push because it was a worthless POS and Leopard had some features that I could actually use and they actually worked which actually made using a computer fun again. For me, I use Apple because after futzing around with windows crap all the time and dealing with their own quirks I got tired of it. At the end of the day I want something that is well built and works. I didn't like the closed system with Apple hardware/software but once I bought my mac mini in 2007 and then my macbook pro last year it just makes it worth it. And not that I need tech support but I did have to get a noisy fan replaced in my macbook and it was a pleasure to just make an appointment via the internet and walk into my local Apple store and have them replace the fan right in front of my face. Sure for the $ you can get a more powerful computer but people pay for Apple products because they are built for the operating system that they run and have fewer "issues" that one would experience in the PC world. Oh yeah, for the record, both my home and work Macs are running Snow Leopard, Ubuntu, Windows7 and other various linux flavors for digital forensics... But I don't know anything about computers There's 2 different values between buying components and building a powerhouse for cheap and buying a product that is built well, looks good, and "just works". I kinda got tired with building PCs, researching the latest components and chipsets since I dont game on them anymore. But I did build my parents a nice quad core system this past Xmas since I couldn't convince my mother to come to the dark side. Enough of my rant! Last edited by steveg78; 05-05-2010 at 12:28 AM. |
