now i have a new tranny :happydance: and the check engine light is back on...

any idea's?

and dont say take it to nissan because theres no fkin warrenty .

spearfish25 12-14-2009 11:06 PM

two words: code reader

...and how did you blow a transmission with only bolt-ons?

Cjanik 12-15-2009 12:27 AM

I found the weirdest way to reset the CEL, it also displays the CEL code, its the last thing that will reset it or not.

1) turn ignition switch on and wait exactly 3 seconds (make sure your not pressing the brake or throttle)
2) within 5 seconds of step 1, depress the accelerator pedal and then release it 5 times
3) exactly 7 seconds after step 2, depress the accelerator pedal and hold it for 10 seconds until the CEL light starts blinking.
4) you can now let the accelerator pedal go and make note of the code that the CEL is giving you.
5)to reset the CEL, repeat steps 1-4, when you complete step 4, wait 10 seconds, then depress the accelerator pedal for 10 seconds again.
6)release the accelerator pedal, turn off the car, then fully turn on the car (make the engine run).

I did it this morning, thought it was a joke to make me look like an idiot but it worked, so if you just want the code, thats the way to do it, minus step 5 and 6.

NYBladeZ 12-15-2009 10:41 AM

wow I think this is the first blown tranny post

vipor 12-15-2009 10:42 AM

define "blown" tranny

which module?

NYBladeZ 12-15-2009 12:17 PM

according to his post he got a whole new tranny, and it seems it wasn't covered by warranty. OP why didn't they cover it?

NewlyIMPORTed 12-15-2009 12:49 PM

Cjanik how did you figure this out?

radio5boro 12-15-2009 01:03 PM

How'd you manage to blow a tranny with bolt ons and a tune?

The only way to blow up these transmissions is by abuse, obviously Nissan determined it was abuse that caused the transmission. Burning up a synchro is one thing, but blowing the whole transmission is quite another.

NYBladeZ 12-15-2009 01:44 PM

I figured since he stated he has pulleys and if he didn't take them off and revert to stock prior to going to the dealership it was obivous they were going to void the warranty. Can't go in for a "check engine light" and leave your engine modifications on, whether founded or not they are going to tell you that your pulleys caused extra stress on the transmission and therefore voids the warranty.

370Zsteve 12-15-2009 01:48 PM

....and then the OP vanished....

too funny

NYBladeZ 12-15-2009 01:52 PM

hope that 12.7 was worth it, new transmissions can't come cheap

Go back through this guy's posts, in one thread he claims to have a TT setup

Also many posts regarding drag racing the vehicle, 500HP, 12.6 quarter-mile times, NOS injection, you name it.

Now somebody ask again why he has no warranty and why he blew a tranny lmao

:icon14:

NYBladeZ 12-15-2009 02:03 PM

definitely doesn't have a turbo, and he didn't mention it in this thread. Hope he's not a young kid who thrashed the sh*t out of his car. If that's the case I kinda feel bad looks like he's having ongoing problems. I had the same issue when I was 19, beat the living hell out of a great Mustang GT with bolt ons, blew a tranny pretty quick in that baby.

I'm not sure I believe anything the kid says at this point. He mentioned a TT setup in another thread, but ya not in this one. It's all lies. And in another thread, he's selling a ton of Stillen stuff but then vanishes as folks are trying to get pricing from him :icon17:

NYBladeZ 12-15-2009 02:17 PM

signs of youth...lol

I thought you were selling all your Stillen bolt-ons and getting sponsored by a Japanese company? Smells like fish, man.

gladeslvrcoq 12-19-2009 09:47 PM

This Soaka guy sounds all :bs: Check his post history...talking nitrous, 12 second times and not posting slips, selling mods, keeping mods....:wtf2:

I checked if this is an April's fools joke since it didn't work when I tried it:( must be doing something wrong. anyone else made this work? and if it gives cel codes, then it's a waste of money to buy handheld code readers? thanks

so my check engine light came on after i put some gas in the car. I disconnected the battery for 10min and turned it back on. The check engine light was gone but the windows were acting weird so i reset them and everything was fine again.

oo7mech 01-12-2010 01:58 PM

This past weekend i blew my restrictor plate sensor while going 12.1 sec @ 124mph. Using nothing but slicks, bone stock.
:p

How does it work when you the Z has a push start? It can't go into just ignition mode.

NYBladeZ 01-17-2010 07:32 AM

I'd just press the engine start button without holding down the clutch

tcarretti 01-17-2010 05:52 PM

This works with the manual tranny for sure. I've used it about 5 times so far since having installed my Berk test pipes. It's a little finnicky and you have to time it just about perfectly or you'll have to start over. Just be patient, use a stop watch and keep at it. Do NOT press in the clutch as that will allow the car to start up right away.

Two pushes on the button are required to get to the ON position. Exactly 3 seconds after that depress the gas pedal fully 5 times. Come off the pedal each time. 7 seconds after the last depression, hold down the pedal for EXACTLY 10 seconds, release for 10 seconds, hold down AGAIN for 10 seconds. Turn the ignition OFF...

Start back up regularly and the CEL should be gone. There has been a couple of times that I had to go through the procedure a few times as my timing was a little off, but it finally always works. A lot cheaper than buying a code reader as long as you know why you're getting the CEL in the first place.

The other CEL reset is putting your penis in the left exhaust pipe. Either way, you'll be embarrassed when a neighbor catches you trying to reset your ECU.
