Code P0011

I have an '09 Touring 60K miles and recently have had a problem. The car started missing under acceleration. I have a scanner and the car was showing 2 codes P0011 (timing over advanced bank 1) and P0300 (random missfire). After doing a bit of research, I have replaced both timing controll sensors and the Camshaft Timing control Solenoid. Still have the same problem and the same codes.
The car idles fine, and drives fine until I hit about 3500-4000 RPM, then a miss. not a stutter, but a full on shudder. Kind of like the bounce you would get if you don't know how to drive a stick.
I am beyond frustrated and looking for any help I can find.

Sounds like a bad variable camshaft timing sprocket
It bolts to the front of your camshafts and rides on the timing chains
Either that or your timing chain is in the wrong spot, which is very unlikely unless someone was in the and didn't align it properly

I was thinking that might be the problem. Since I am no mechanic, I have made an appointment with Nima over at Corner3.

When I spoke to Nima, his response was "The dreaded P0011" apparently there are a few things that may be wrong. From the timing sensors and solenoid, to a possible leak in the gasket in the timing chain cover.

Well see what he says.

By the way, I mentioned to him I found him here on the Forum.

For the record, nobody has been in the engine yet....

Just very frustrating at this point. I'll keep the Forum posted as to what transpires at Corner 3

Sorry for necroing this thread but I'm having this same problem. Same two codes, except mine is in limp mode. Can the OP possibly post what the issue turned out to be?

Sorry for the delayed reply, but I was the original poster to ask the question. I DO indeed have an update. The car has been sold. Reason is, Nissan refused to take any responsibility for the car. I was told by Nissan Consumer Affairs that since my car had no service history with the dealer (we bought the car used from another county) they had no interest in helping me.

The odd thing about this is, when I originally spoke to NCA, they knew well the problem. In fact, they alluded that based on past experience with other owners with the same problem had had the entire engine replaced at Nissan's expense. As mentioned in prior posts, they suspected the camshaft timing sprockets. for $2200, they would replace the sprockets but not guarantee that would fix the problem. From what I understand, the ultimate problem is with the oil sump pick-up being too short on the early '09 370's. this in turn causes the engine to run hot and the cam sprockets to warp or come out of alignment. The oil sump pick up had been lengthened in later models of the '09 I was really bummed with the way the whole thing turned out. This was my second Z, but I doubt if I will ever buy another, or even another Nissan for that matter..
I hope this helps, but unless you have a complete service history from a dealer I suspect you will get the same treatment from NCA.

Okay well that doesn't sound so good. I changed the oil first thing when the issue started. Since then I've tried checking my spark plugs, they're not dirty. Replaced my air filters. Seafoamed the crank case, gas tank, and throttle bodies. Still having the issue. I was hoping to fix the problem with the relatively easy and inexpensive fixes. At this point the only thing left is to bring it to Nissan and have it looked at.

I have seen others try replacing the "variable valve timing control solenoid". It was also suggested to me to try checking the spark plug coil. I have yet to do this, but will be soon. In the meantime, anyone got any other suggestions?

Again, I'm getting P0300, P0011, misfires, and limp mode.

My suggestion is to do one of two things. 1, take the car to the dealer. Just make sure it's not the one in South Orange County just off the 5 freeway. Or 2, take the car to Nima at Corner3. Knowing what I know now, replacing the can sprockets is really your only option. Expensive, but if you intend to keep the car, your only real option. I would however suggest calling Nissan Consumer Affairs to at least file a claim. You might get lucky there, but I wouldn't count in it. It will however create a paper trail for you if you were to have issues later.
What I wouldn't do, is continue to try replacing random parts in the hopes of an easy fix. I did that, and was out a few hundred needlessly. Take that money and have the real problem fixed. Make sure whomever works on the car, swapps out the oil pickup. The whole front of the engine will be apart anyway.

Check your oils gallery gaskets. If they fail your motor goes boom.
