Default Could use some advice not starting

Hello put my wifes 2009 370Z in storage the first of December. Car ran absolutely fine before, went up once every couple of weeks to start it up and check it out. We went to pick it last night battery was dead.. I used a jumper box to try and get it started paying close attention to Negative and Posative cables.. Hooked it up and the lights started flashing and horn was going off.. After that shows a little car on the dash flasing with a key in it.. Its like its not reconizing the keys.. Oh and where the push button start is normaly would light the ring around the button now when I depress it just show the words Lock Do I need to change battery and if so is there any special procedures that needs to be followed? Any advice woould be so welcomed

Thanks

It sounds like your battery gave up the ghost. Take your battery out and have it load tested. Cold weather kills batteries. Also, how old is the battery? If its over years old get you a new one.

Probably not. Get your battery checked and or replaced and you should be fine.

Nothing major. You'll lose the radio pre-sets, you'll need to reset/initialize the windows (several threads on this site), and it will take the ECM a few miles to re-tune itself.

I hope it is just your battery and not the dreaded steering lock issue.

Thanks for all the responses.. Just bought a new battery see if that takes care of it. The storage facility we had it stored at had no electrical outlets. If we can get it started going to bring it home today. You're right hope it is not the darn steering lock issue..

Thanks everyone for the input. . We are up at the storage facility got the battery changed out tried to start the car still nothing. . It still has a flashing car with key in it where the tachometer is and a yellow key where the message center is. I am not really sure what to do now at this point. . I believe the immobilizer got activated , but have no idea other that having it towed to a Nissan dealership. .

The Owner's Manual and/or the FSM will tell you what the lights mean.

I'd try putting the fob in the fobgina - if that works, you have a low fob battery. See OM for battery changing procedure.

Thanks for the suggstion, but I tried both key FOB's in the fobgina and unlocked the drivers door manually still nothing. At least it's locked up in storage right now cause the driver's window is down and will not come up.. I like to think it's something rather simple , but will have it towed first thing next week. I'll be honest has me perplexed.. Thanks for brainstroming though..

The blinking flashing car with key indicator is normal when car is off. Do you hear the steering lock unlock when pressing the ignition switch?

Not good....does sound like the steering lock issue. Hopefully someone else will chime in to confirm. If so, try hitting the steering lock box with a tool to maybe help unlock.

Thanks for at least being honest .. I Googled it and seems like some of the earlier models like her's was plaqued with this issue.. I guess I'll run her VIN to see if the TSB was ever performed on the car ; which we bought used last year. We do have full coverage on the warranty so keep my fingers crossed..
