Third times a charm
Just had mine done for the third time in three years: Master and CSC replaced the first two times and this time the entire hydraulic system with regards to the clutch.
They also went with the GTR fluid which, apparently, holds up better under heat. I suspect that, while such failures are on their radar, Nissan techs aren't exactly sure what is causing the issue so they replace it all. I've also read on other forums that most feel the CSC is to blame in which case there is an aftermarket version.

New but Unrelated update:
Ok, got the car back and it runs as good as new... hope it lasts longer this time Interesting story: I go to enterprise rent a car to return the ford fiesta that i've been driving since yesterday. As far as I know there were no significant damages to the body of the car so I paid very little attention during the walk around. But when I went to return it, the rep points out 3 dents on top of the roof ( which you can barely see under certain lighting condition). I never checked to see if the ROOF was damaged and the rep who rented me the car never did point out to check the roof. It appears that now I'm responsible for the dents and I have to pay for them to fix it... after arguing about 30 mins and cussing them out at the same time I realized this is getting nowhere. Long story short, I gave them my insurance info and told them to send me the estimates... Learn from my mistake and next time you rent a car, check out every little detail and make sure they know about it before you take the car...

Honestly I think the stronger pressure plate had more to do with the failures, after the first one. I've got back to stock parts and it's been good now for about 75,000kms. knock on wood.

I had the same issue 6 weeks ago. fluid color too. Nissan dealer changed the fluid to gtr fluid at no cost. Nissan put something out to the dealerships about it. no issues since.

My theory on why the csc goes out and takes the master with it is this. If you think about a clutch it acts like a brake pad right? There is dust and heat generated when you use the clutch. Some of the dust settles on the transmission shaft and is picked up by the csc when use the clutch. That is why your clutch fluid gets so dark really quick. The dust from the clutch is probably abrasive and damages the seals slowly and this is compounded by the heat.
I'm not sure that any internal csc design will solve this issue. With the elimination kit, the slave is moved externally so it avoids the dust issue. Just my theory. |

Just an update:
New CSC is still holding (crossing fingers) & I finally passed all CPA exams! Just thought I'd share for all other potential CPAs on the forum
