Nissi was backed into
:shakes head:
So I was on my way to play some volleyball with some friends last night. i went to go get a few gatorades at a store nearby. I had to drive through a parking lot to get to the store. As Im pulling up to a little intersection, I had to wait for a car to drive past before I can proceed. Just as the car goes by,a guy behind me and to the left starts backing out of a stall. I didn't even see him until it was to late! As I hear the crunch sound and the car move,I look over and see this spare tire looking me in the eyes. I got out of the car and proceeded to lose it on the guy. After I calmed down,we exchanged info and he claimed 100% responsibility. There was also a witness who saw the whole thing so I got his number as well. http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/...psksorfjro.jpg The door also has some minor damage as well. So my dilemma is I really don't want this on my car fax. Guy sais he's willing to pay up to 5 grand to get it fixed without insurance getting involved. But if it's more than we have to go through insurance. Do most auto body shops report the damage anyways? And any body with similar damage have it cost more than 5 grand? I don't think it would be that much, but it is in the most chittiest spot! I'm also thinking of getting the car painted another color. Get two estimates done, one for damage and pAinting of damaged area, than one for painting the car and subtract the amount of the damaged area painting from the whole car paint job estimate. What do you guys think? |
Yeah that is a baad spot, its a part of the whole cars actual body, in order to fix that u need to order that side sheet metal, cut original out and replace the cut from a new ordered or donor car, weld it and smooth out the welds then paint, 5k should cover it. U need to go around and ask for prices at local body shops. GL OP.

Ya,two quotes at pretty much 5 g's. And both places say that it will cost more in the end once they get into the nuts and bolts of it. I'm just going to go through insurance. That way it's one less headache among many. I can worry about a paint job some other time.

Sorry for your troubles. Good luck!

Whoaaa! Sorry to hear what happened :(
Good to hear they claimed responsibility that will make the B.S. a little easier, But thats in the worst place to be hit. Pick out a very competent body shop and make sure work is close or perfect before you accept the car back. |
in canada if it's over 1000 (i believe) it HAS to be reported to the insurance.
on another note since it's 100% their fault (although they will still deem who was at fault but you have a witness) you will be only forking over time and your baby to get repaired. go to a shop you trust. if it costs 5k, 7k, 10k whatever just get it done. the other insurance company will be paying (although they will have to apraise and approve prio to work) |
Here in bc Canada it's all one insurance across the province so I deal with one insurance not two thankfully. I'm just glad it's cosmetics and no mechanical parts are damaged.
Thanks everyone. I'll post pics of the surgery. Hopefully no scars!!! |
Welcome to the party.....This chick backed up to my beloved Z as well.

This happened in august 14 the lady who hit me changed her story and told her insurance company that I hit her  I had to go through a lawyer to have everything resolved Hope that won't be the case in your situation Good luck! |

It was drizzling and I met an oncoming car in a curve in our subdivision, and I knew she was going to slide into me well before she did but I had no "escape route." Fortunately, there was nothing more serious than some huge dents to the vehicle I was driving. She admitted responsibility, and sheriff's deputies came but issued no tickets. I went back to the dealership, told them the story, and they told me they would deal with the lady's insurance company. I drove the 300ZX home! The next day the dealership called to inform me that the woman's husband had called them and denied her being responsible for the accident, and that they would expect me to cover the damages to their demonstrator. I called my agent and related the story. He laughed, assured me that the dealership was on the hook and for me not to worry about it. I never heard another word about it. Good luck, OP! |
Moral
And the moral of the story is .....Gatorade is junk. You shouldn't be drinking it anyway.
Merv, Sorry to hear about this happening. I'd be choked. As I told you I'm so freakin' anal I've never even parallel parked my 370 for fear of some **** hitting it or me curb rashing the wheels, so I'd still be there going off on the guy if it were me. If you don't have anyone in mind, Ladner Auto Body is the BEST. We've got to get together again soon. K |
