370z Rivals?

Who is the enemy out there. Yes mustangs and camaros are v8 so it's not a equal match but who would you say are the biggest rivals for the Z.... Is it unfair to say frs and brz by farrrrr. Is the WRX the only on par machine we should have to outdo? I would base this on 1/4 mile times, and track times.

Mustang GT
Camaro SS
Challenger SRT8
FRS/BRZ are close on some tracks (more technical)
STi/Evo
Genesis Coupe (V6)

I am sure there are others but that is a good list, also sticking with price here. I am sure we can go up against the bottom Porsche or some other Euro cars.

Everything and anything in my path. Get out the way....Raaa

engine classification too right? because it's kinda unfair to compare a v4 turbo to a v6 na (even if they have similiar gross out puts)

they're just... different.

but dreamer hit the list pretty well for production cars except he missed the miata (which is closer to the brz/frs than to the stangs)

all honesty... Z is a true niche. v6 na 2 seat coupe. there aren't any other on the market with that spec.

My Z and everybody's Z in here!

Thats it!

Porsche Cayman
Porsche Boxster
BMW 335i
V8 Camaros and Mustangs are our competitors on track, just not straight lines.

Don't forget Porsche Cayman/Boxster(S models) and the Audi TTS

cooltoy 01-07-2015 05:03 PM

Don't think we can compete with the S models.

There are way to many ways to slice this, it totally depends on what the car is used for and what are you basing it on.

Cost
Driving Enjoyment
Seating
Engine Size
Performance Data
Sporty Feel
Straight Line Performance
Brand Prestige
Tow Rating (hehe)

When I was shopping I considered the Z, 5.0, STI, and BRZ. I would loved to have had a used C5 or porsche but didn't want to daily one and was afraid it might make me look kind of like a spoiled doctor-type.

enkei2k 01-07-2015 05:14 PM

Those damn minivans....

Particularly the Toyota Sienna Limited AWD.

cooltoy 01-07-2015 05:16 PM

Especially in the snow.

Tadpole 01-07-2015 05:19 PM

It seems to me that the pony cars rival us more at least at the drag strip anyways. The Z is very competitive there even with the HP disadvantage.

m4a1mustang 01-07-2015 05:35 PM

Honestly... nothing. Everyone else has moved on while Nissan has kept the Z in 2009. Not that this is a bad thing... but it's in its own little niche IMO.

You can get way more tech and power in just about anything else these days. Relatively speaking the Z is old school and bare bones. It's a little more harsh, a little more direct. Less practical, less of a value proposition. But it's still fun, so if you like it, you like it!

Hehe not really. In scca autox, the 370's so whooped the Frs/brz's that they qq'd and got the z bumped. There aren't any tracks where the z won't stomp all over them :)

My car's better than your car. My car's better than yours. :p :driving:
