How many Z's were sold in 2014?
Camaro had sold 86,297, & mustang at 82,635. Just trying to put a number at why we're so rare. Thank you.

Also have to remember that the Camaro/Mustang/Challenger all have multiple engine options with a 2+2 design. So people feel easier thinking they have more room for others, plus if they don't want to spend big money on the 'fastest' version they can get a basic model for fairly cheap (which is about about 70% of the American cars are).

By comparison, the Cayman only sold 3,417 in the US last year |
I'm loving the rarity...

U.S. GTR sales for 2014 was around 1,400

With numbers this low are we sure there is going to be a Z35?
It would be a hard sell to the stockholders. Even if Ghosn can work some magic (like bringing back the Z33). |

I think the big question is how are they planning to do the next gen model. The iDX was unique but Nissan said as a single platform it will not work but could it be combined with the Z platform maybe to help? Also the G (or q whatever) seems to be going its own direction and might not share as much with the Z other than engine possibly. |
It's one or the other from what I heard. z or idx.

If anything we will see a Z with two engines possibly for the first time to help offset the 'performance' model of the v6. Similar to what we see in the Mustang/Camaro where the v6 keeps the v8 on the road. |

Chevrolet Corvette Sales Figures - GOOD CAR BAD CAR A 2 seat sports car is definitely in a niche market, and with the Corvette being number one by far in this market, selling almost 37,000 last year. I am guessing the Nissan execs would have to think, in order to make a profit and go forward with the Z. They would need to have a car competitive enough to the Corvette, to actually steal sales from them. If not, the Z may be idled till they do. Being an optimist, I have a feeling Nissan has something special in the works and are excellent about keeping it silent. Let's hope I'm right as this new Z could make an impact in this segment, just like the GTR did upon it's arrival. I'm happy that the C7 is a great car and hope it spurs other manufacturers to be competitive with it as well. |

Yes we are rare. That's why people often think the Z's are SUPER cars :D

I had a 1997 240sx that was my first new car and they only sold 3,655 of them. They only sold the slant or shark eye 240sx in 97' & 98' with a total production of just over 5k. Nice to have a rare car that you like to drive and can afford.
Exotic car brands manage their sales numbers in regions to maintain exclusivity. I like the fact that I don't see my twin everywhere but I really bought the Z for how it drives. EDIT: And I drove a Mazdaspeed6 for 7 years and that was kind of an oddball too so I guess that's a thing with me. |
Didn't want to start a new thread...
Just looked at the latest US Z sales figures ytd for the Z on Good Car Bad Car. So... 370Z sales are averaging 310 / mo (~3700 annualized). That's down from 4600+ in 2017, ~5900 in 16, and ~7400 in 15. Nissan is currently selling 1/2 the # vs just a few years ago. Will Nissan just let this model die on the vine in a couple years? |
I think so, I believe they are sinking all of their time and r&d into SUV's and alternative energy cars. On the sports car side it's all going towards the GTR which is a shame being the normal working man cannot afford one. Love your Z like it's the only one left.

The less 370z on the road, the more valuable and collectable? Along with all the wrecks, the non-modded 370z's will be on future mecum shows. Haha:stirthepot:
