have a G37 sedan, test drove 370Z, loved it but have few Qs and observations

I have a G37 sedan, test drove 370Z, loved it but have a few Q's

1) I test drove the 370z, owned a 350z 6 speed before , the 370z is soo much better

I test drove a 370Z Auto with 18" wheels and Auto 19" Sport Package. I like paddles shift transmissions and not keen on 6 speed ( drove it for yrs and now want paddles)

1) I drove extensively bothe cars AND
A) I felt the Std 18" wheels and tires roled better, supple ride and still was great in twisties
B) The sport package felt little cumbersome

I guess SP has better tires and LSD but 18's were awesome and lotsa grip, am i missing something, did someone else observe this?

Any feedback from current 18" wheel 370Z owners or from someone who drove them back to back will be appreciated

Thanks

Sounds like you had fun! Two thoughts. First, the 18" tires have greater sidewall depth and different brand/type of tires. So you might expect a better ride. But even more likely is that the sport package you drove had over-inflated tires. A lot of Z's have been coming off the boat with too-high tire inflation.

IMHO, the suspension seems pretty well calibrated to provide a firm-but-not-harsh ride. But not when the tires are too hard!!

Your observation interests me though, and I have a unique opportunity to test it for myself. I just picked up an extra set of 18" wheels with stock tires, which I will soon replace with snow tires for the winter. But right now, my car has the 19" Rays wheels on it. But I'm interested in comparing the ride on the 18"ers. So I'll put them on & give it a whirl next week and report back on what I find out.
