Dirty exhaust tips? Car running too rich from stock?

I drove my Z (complete stock) for about 1K miles and noticed that there alot of greasy buildup on the lower part of the exhaust tips. I'm guessing this is resulted from the car running too rich? I would think that stock cars are tuned rich, but that's a little to much right? The AFR would probably be lower then 10 (guessing). Anyone else noticed this problem?

Side Note: Have your guys noticed that for most BMW 335i, the right exhaust tip is always darker/dirty than the left exhaust tip. Im still wondering why....

Correct. Perfectly normal...One of the reasons you get such nice performance gains from bolt-ons....Brings the car into a better A/F ratio which makes more power..

damn, guess i'm stuck with dirty exhaust for a while... =P
Im planning on driving the car stock for a couple years before I start throwing parts into it. So far, I haven't got the mod bug in me yet, and I'm trying to stay that way for as long as possible....cuz we all know...once the mod bug gets you, it's not leaving your system until you change car.. =)

i believe those exhausts have valves inside to only allow one opening to maintain backpressure until the driver WOT's. then the second one opens up.

correct if wrong.

that would make sense...

Mine did this for about the first 2 or 3 thousand miles then cleared up. My car is 10 months old with 11 thousand miles now and it's still clean. Others in this forum have experienced this too when their cars were new.
