Nissan HID vs Infiniti's
I noticed that our g37s headlight appears to be whiter than the Z's. I wonder if Nissan uses different HID bulbs between the brands?
|
370's bulb temperature is 4200k I believe. What are they on the G37's?
|
I don't know the color rating on the G37, but it looks whiter. If the z's 4200k, my guess the G's probably 5000k.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't that make the G's bluer? |

4300 is supposed to be the whitest white. Over time bulbs blue and get dimmer though |
5000k is whiter than 4300k, but 4300k has more usable light according to the Kelvin scale.
Anyhow, still wondering if the G's and Z's use different bulbs? Quote:

your z suffering jaundice..

Lol,I think they cured that in 2010!

My bulbs can light up 72 virgins

The G37 (sedan) uses bulb D2S which is the same bulb specified for the 370Z. Both these vehicles are made on the same assembly line in Japan thus, many parts are the same.

Your perception of light through a different styled and angled receptacle has influenced you.
|
Could it be the Z has a fresenel pattern over the projectors causing this coloring? The cut off and light output of the DOT USA spec headlights is pretty poor compared to the JDM or euro ECE assemblies.

6000 is white/blue so im guessing 5000 is white/white

Here's a couple kelvin charts

The part numbers are slightly different, so its possible the K rating WAS different.
CV36 = 26297-89902 Z34 = 26297-89903 They've merged to this = 26297-9B91A |
Was the dress blue and black or white and gold ?
|
I had to replace my entire headlight (not just the bulb) because I got into a fender bender and screwed up one of the lights. The newer headlight has a whiter bulb than the original from 2009. Now I have one headlight that is white and the other which is slightly blue.
|
that is probably due to the age of the older bulb. HID bulbs get more blue/dim as they age. you can probably just change the old bulb to match the color.
