You are comparing what's available from the after-market to factory parts. It makes absolutely no sense, and frankly...you can substitute "speakers" in your second sentence with anything this still applies. Aftermarket brake-kits in many price ranges are superior. Aftermarket LSDs in many price ranges are superior. Aftermarket cat-backs in many price ranges are superior. Aftermarket intakes in many price ranges are superior.

I have yet to hear about so many complaints on the brakes, LSD, intake, etc. because the parts provided from the factory are inferior to aftermarket ones.

Get your points in check.

Everyones opinion is gonna differ on things like this.. Makes no sense at all to argue about it..

Heck, I think most OEM systems are weak.. Some may agree with me, some wont.. Do I care? No..It's my preference (or in this case my ears ) not anyone elses.

No need to have a flame fest in every other thread...

Yes i came from a 08 350Z with the Bose system and had that upgraded due to lack of base. I can tell you my Bose system in the 370Z feels 10X better than the previous oem system and this time i would not need to waste money for an upgrade.

I have no idea why some here are so against the 370Z’s sound system. Unless you want people outside to hear how loud your bass is or you want the sound so loud that will hurt someone’s ears, there is absolutely no need for an aftermarket setup. Just make sure you turn up the bass and treble and it will sound nice as it is. There is enough bass and clarity in the current system and i would not recommend this as a bad system at all, definitely above average. This is just my personal opinion.

I'm sure Nissan and Bose could have done a better job with an extra $1k slapped onto the price tag of the Z. I'd rather keep my $1k.

Thanks for the info! Wife wants the touring and I was pushing for just the base w/spots package. At least I'll get the small consolation that the stereo is a bit better (because I know I'm gonna lose on the "touring costs too much" front).

Don't be a lemming, read both of the below links. Even Lou Reed has an opinion ...

Bose BLOWS.

What about Bose? Part 1 : Home Theater Blog | Home Theater News & Reviews
What about Bose? Part 2 : Home Theater Blog | Home Theater News & Reviews

"July 2004 issue of MONEY has an evaluation of speakers by Lou Reed listening to his own (and other) music.

He loved the Klipsch, liked the MartinLogan (except they didn't work at high
volume), thought the B&W over-priced average speakers, dismissed the
Infinity's as "so so" but with little bass, and hated the Bose (no midrange
and he'd pay money NOT to hear them).

I wonder if Bose will sue him and Money."
PLEASE do me a favor and don't link a blog from "some guy who used to work in a high-end audio store" and pass it off as something worthwhile. And while I love Lou Reed, the link didn't work and he was robably commenting on the 201's or something.

Next time, link me something like this, written by people who actually know WTF they are talking about.

Stereophile: Bose 901 loudspeaker

The article has very good things to say about the 901 speaks as well as bad things.

Nonetheless, calling me a lemming while you are essentially acting like a "bose sucks it's all marketing" lemming was pretty funny.

I agree with the poster who said that a car, especially one like a Z, is the worst place to expect sound an audiophile would drool over. And Spearfish was dead-on when he said that it won't replace a huge woofer box in the back.

My post wasn't to compare it with a high-end system that's gonna set me back another $2000. Besides, every time I hear one of you Gen-F*ck dickheads driving around listening to horsesh*t like Kanye West at 120 decibels on a high-end system I crack up.

Like I said. FROM AN AUDIOPHILE STANDPOINT. It is not worth the 900 added dollars in the whole touring package. U can order 1100 leather seats n customize the stereo yourself.

"Audiophile standpoint" is meaningless in a car that makes more noise than the sound system can drown out. And how do you know the Bose price is $900? Where do you get your "facts"? Every thread you post in seems to have "facts" but no links to the "facts", dude. Like your comment on Japanese Z's being built with different materials than the US model, which is just a huge facepalm.

I'm beginning to think starting this thread was a bad idea

I didn't read the whole thread, but did you test drive it a second time? From what you said, you never even turned on the sound, then how do you know that a 370z sound system aren't capable of drowning out the car noise?

Only one test drive. When I pushed the car over 5000 RPM, it sounded like I let loose about 3000 screaming fruit bats inside about 10 cu ft of space.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the sound of the drivetrain.. I'm buying the car in a couple of weeks. I just can't imagine any sound system competing with it. Certainly isn't going to make for a clean listening room. Audiophile? Puleeze!

Well, I'm not an audiophile and don't expect my car system to be perfect. But, as I said before, the factory system that is in my 1998 Dodge Durango (with an Infinity speaker system, also factory installed) sounds way better than my 2009 370Z. It even came with a 5-band GEQ.

Bose system does fine with the volume on 12, and it set to medium speed-sense.

I can still hear the white-noise from the road, if I listen for it, but for the most part, I hear whatever I have playing.

I'd rather it have been an Infinity system, than a Bose...but it is what it is.

Better than most OEM, worse than aftermarket.

Yup, I was just wondering. Well, I have no comment about car audios. I normally have my audio off while driving, so the base audio isn't a problem for me.
