Another one of "these" threads...
Just saw this on CarBuzz this morning
The Nissan 370Z Replacement is Shaping Up To Be a Hybrid Convertible in Europe and Japan it may be simply be called the "Z." There’s been increasing chatter going on lately regarding the upcoming Nissan 370Z replacement, which will likely simply be called Z. Only last week did we hear that the next Z-car could end up being powered by a V6 for the US market. For all markets, Nissan wants it to be smaller, lighter and cheaper than the 370Z. Overseas, namely Europe and Japan, a V6 isn’t a realistic choice due to differences in customer tastes as well as emissions regulations. So what will the Euro-Japan Z-car have under its hood? The Nissan 370Z Replacement is Shaping Up To Be a Hybrid Convertible in Europe and Japan A new report coming from Australian website Motoring is claiming Mercedes-Benz will supply a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine to Nissan, who will then pair it up with an electric hybrid system. What’s more, Nissan will initially debut the Z as a convertible only, with a coupe to follow at some point. Mercedes may also end up as the supplier for the US-spec engine, a 3.0-liter V6. No word yet whether Nissan plans to offer that hybrid powertrain in the US, but a company source stated that the US market "demands competitively priced convertibles with loads of street cred." That’s what Nissan’s customer survey data is telling them, but nothing is for sure just yet and plans can change. |

Hybrid technology doesn't always mean Tree hugger. Look at the P1, 918 spyder, and le Ferrari... Monster torque curve.
I would trade my current Z in for a hybrid Z if it was worth it. |

If a Honda can make a turbo hybrid crz for under 30k with 200 hp. Im sure Nissan can make the Nissan Z with a GDI turbo 4 hybrid for under 35K. Looking at the current trends of turbo 4 bangers making around 275 ish hp, couple an electric motor to it and combined HP should be around 350 ish. I also forgot, the F1 cars are hybrid too and are stupid fast.
Placing a huge turbo on a small engine will have nice top end, then a electric motor to combat the turbo lag and that will be a badass ride. |

The Clifford, I too have gazed upon a beast that is silent in the night. But it cannot me tamed by me until it becomes older and wiser. Until then I will continue to pleasure myself in my autox beast, the 370Z non-nismo base + awesome sauce.

Well all this F1 talk, i remember nissan i think offered an inline 6cyl aluminium block, Ti internals, twin scroll turbo, and an electric engine attached to it, rev till 13k i believe making ~900hp, now i dont remember where i read it but these where the qualification req.
(PS. I could be wrong on some things, at that time i was just researching F1 engines, and it was a while ago.)

The car must be fast and light. Otherwise, it is just the same formula in a different bottle. I don't like it when I can't hang with the v8's.
