weird but good.
I was on my way to work and my clutch stopped working, pulled over and got my car towed to a Nissan dealership. They said it was a csc problem and they will take care of it. 4 days later (today) the service adviser gave me a sheet of paper with everything that they had fixed and it blew my mind. They installed a brand new transmission, clutch, flywheel, clutch slave cylinder, clutch master cylinder, gtr clutch fluid, new oil pan, oil and filter. Everything was brand spanking new. The car feels so smooth now. All covered under my extended warranty. Car has 41k miles.
Is this normal or am I just really lucky? |
With all the stories iv read, consider yourself lucky

You're lucky and business is probably very slow at the stealership during the holidays.
Warranty work is billed at a lower labor rate, but it is better than sitting around. Quote:

Lucky for sure. However I would show a little appreciation to the service Mgr. and the service guy that took care of you. Buy them a couple dozen donuts and let them know how much it is a appreciated. I have done this before and something this small goes along way. Glad to hear things worked out.

Great suggestion! I'm gonna go get them each a bottle of wine.

i think this is their way of saying 'COME BACK WE NEED YOU!
just a speculation but i had a similiar experience recently with my mom's car... had a bit of rust and the dealership (lexus) offered to fix it up. we did buy 2 cars from them and they know we're in the market for another one in the near future so this could be a 'pay it forward' type deal. not saying that all dealerships are stealerships but damn son... DAMN! trannie, clutch, flywheel, csc/cmc and a oil change on the house? so are you like brad pitt / leonardo di caprio good looks man? lol |
I think they probably did it for you. Although also when working as a tech in a shop, there is no experience you can get without doing something physically. I'm sure shops won't make a habit of it, but to train people they need a car. Why would they replace your oil pan unless it was damaged? Just adding another way it could have gone. Could be any reason at this point

Funny that you brought up Leonardo di Caprio, he is a very down to earth and a very humble person. A few years ago as I was pumping gas at a chevron station in Hollywood California, I saw a homeless man and his son sitting against the wall asking for money. While waiting, I walked over and gave them some money, not much like 5 dollars. I turned to my right and I saw Leo, he was just wearing some blue jeans, white t-shirt, and a baseball cap. Very casual nothing fancy. So Leo gave them each a sandwich and a soda, and an envelope with money in it. I don't know how much but it was very nice of him. I talked to Leo for a bit and I told him how he was awesome in the movie The Departed. Super kool guy! As he drove off, I noticed that he was driving a civic hybrid not a lambo or anything super expensive. Just wanted to share that story with you guys. |

You are a lucky guy my friend!!! or the service adviser in love with you |
story is less interesting w/o knowing the name of the dealership!
|
Wow, you got really lucky! Congrats to you! I had the direct opposite experience with Surf City (that is where I got my car) and had nothing but numerous bad experiences with them.
