Pros and cons, Nismo vs Sports package?
It appears that there is only a very small difference in power between a Nismo and a sports package coupe. If one is not interested in getting to a race track but does drive fast and aggressive, on highways and city streets, is there sufficient reasons for going for a Nismo?

The nismo has an upgraded suspension as well. I have a sport touring and added wheel spacers and swift springs. For 300 bucks, the springs were well worth it. It handles so much better and you don't sacrifice too much ride quality. Just the right amount of in between in my opinion. If you can get a nismo for a good price, don't hesitate. I think the nismo is for people who want a more sportier feel without having to touch the car,ie modding.

The Nismo is mostly a body kit, some body stiffening, and a little stiffer suspension. It does have a different exhaust and some say a different tune but those are pretty lame. Nismos still need aftermarket intake, HFC, CBE, and a tune IMHO and then the Nismo and the sport put down exactly the same dyno numbers. The main difference really is the body kit. Zs are pretty rare... Nismos are really rare.

I got a base + sport and bought a used set of Nismo suspension, Nismo sway bars, and Nismo Exhaust all for pretty cheap. It just doesn't have the (IMO ugly) bodykit. Does great on the road and the track. If you like the bodykit and can spend that much money, go for a Nismo. or a 5.0 Mustang.
I have a Nismo hat too.

Are you seriously considering another trade? Really?

Do a forum search as this topic has been beaten to death.
In sum, if you plan to mod your car the Nismo may not make economic sense for you. The performance gains of the Nismo are primarily due to the larger 60mm CBE and can be easily matched on the Sport edition with a modest investment of a new CBE and springs. With that said, the Nismo is a beautiful car and no one who buys ever regrets it, so if the Nismo speaks to you, get it. |
