The 300zx is still alive, it's called a 370z nowdays.
I'm thinking this new Toyota is gonna be a hit. A cheap RWD car young people can buy? The drift world will be all over this. With a few aftermarket parts it should be a pretty fun ride for people who aren't experienced enough to handle larger amounts of power. Looks are subjective as I personally like the styling. |

This is the car I threaded about a couple weeks ago that everone was trying to tell me isn't coming out even though I read a new article cconcerning it.
I honestly don't think its bad lookin at all. Its different. And as far as it looking like other cars. Name a car that doesn't look like or take cues from another vehicle. The 370z is a hydrid of a 240z n a porsche 911. N the 240z was a rip off of those GT ferraris from the early 60's. Very few original cars today. There's a twin turbo version of this car and this car also ONLY weighs 2,866lbs.. The N/A version is 220hp/240lbs tq 2,866lbs and a 50/50 weight distribution. This car might very well be lookin at a 0-60 time of 5.5 and a twin tubo time of 4.4sec The genesis coupe @ 3,409lbs and 310hp 266lbs tq, V6 gets 5.5seconds on a 55/45 weight distribution. This car will be almost 600 lbs lighter. That's like the camaro SS at 3,800lbs 426 hp 400lbstq V8, DOES 0-60 4.6. Quarter mi 13.0 The 370z gets 4.6/13.1 on half the displacement, more than 90hp/130lbs tq deficit. But the cars match in performance numbers. Like the Z against a camaro. The power will die off earlier cuz its a 4 banger. But figure for highway driving. You will probably have enough power to get you to 100mph with sufficient torque. That's not a bad deal. This is lotus inspired engineering as well. Like the styling or not. This toyota will be a force to be reckoned with. I'm still buyin a Z though. Lol. |

If mazda makes another low torque RX I will be very angry. I had an rx7 for 8 years. I remember when I test drove the rx8 in 2004 I was very disappointed. It handled great but power delivery was sub par compared to my 93 RX-7 My RX7 I felt handled just as well though and had Waaaaayyyyyy more power. But I don't remember reviewers making a big deal over the rx7 until it was defunct. Go figure? And all praises went to the rx8 that didn't have the power to match its handling prowess. I really hope mazda get the rx7 right IF they bring it out. |

The times are not quotes. If u read what I'm saying. I'm giving a guesstimation judging by weight, size, power. This car is not new. So there's tons of news on the motor and speculated power displacement. Just do the research. This car was supposed to be released this winter along with the silvia. But both nissan and toyota pulled back. Toyota just got back in the game. Let's see what nissan does? Judging by the fact they took a year to sell 10k Z's I don't think nissan will be willing to invest in another sports car right now. |

Yes your estimates are on an engine we have facts on, but until this car is finalized in weight/power/engine revisions we cannot estimate these things. The car could look exactly like that but end up with a weight of 3200 pounds at the current HP output or less.

They've also said that they're still tweaking the existing boxer engine, and all numbers right now are pure speculation based on the existing numbers and what they "suppose" Toyobaru are going to do with the engine, again, with its speculated 20k-30k asking price.

I gave up on Toyota a long time ago. I mean this is a company that has spent 8+ years and 400+ millions of dollars in F1 and still hasn't won 1 race yet but you have a young team like Red Bull Racing already winning at least 1 race. This is the same company that was caught cheating in various motor sport events, e.g. WRC, F1, and Nascar. Toyota does not have a racing heritage, it's all about marketing. Every modern "sporty" cars they produce now comes up short compared to the competitions, e.g. IS-F vs. M3 vs. C63. So to say Toyota has a sports car coming out in a couple of years, I have to roll my eyes. As they say, driving a Toyota is as exciting as buying a loaf of bread.

I don't know, something about being a FWD car disqualifies a vehicle from being a "sports car" IMO.
Then again, I also thought that an automatic was a "waste of a good sports car" - yet I have a 7AT, and likes it. |
