2016 370z...

Any rumors on whether the 2015 style will be the last one of its kind? Rumors that the redesigned "370Z" will come in 2016?

Really want that black NISMO tech model but can't afford it this year... :(

mishuko 11-20-2014 08:14 AM

need to get this thread locked because there have been 0 press releases and no confirmations from Nissan about a 'potential redesign'

all speculation.

so to help speed this along... did you know the automatic sucks? I heard that it drops ~17% of the flywheel power... talk about unacceptable!

Pretty much. Nissan is also rather good at keeping secrets these days.

Personally -- and this is my opinion -- I think Nissan will keep the current 370Z NISMO for another year, so they can milk that last bit of $$$ for whatever it cost them to make that new bodykit -- and give additional time to develop the upcoming new Z design.

I've read unconfirmed rumors -- mostly from this site -- that a Nissan rep claimed there would be a final RS version of the current 370Z NISMO with an actual engine modification. Personally I don't believe that will happen because:

#1: It will increase the cost of what many already consider an expensive overpriced sports car.

#2: The HP boost won't be better than what someone could do with aftermarket products for the same price increase.

#3: The boost wouldn't be impressive on paper to mainstream American buyers, because of the "HP War" that's getting a lot of market attention.

I'm sure hardcore Z owners would switch up for a 370Z with turbo improvement... but that's aiming for a niche group in an already niche group. Plus I've heard this RS version rumor ever since the 370Z was released, because the 350Z got an actual RS version (and then later the Juke). If it happens, great... but I wouldn't hold my breath...

Either way... just wait. The Z is not a car that's in low stock. The "rarity" of the 2015 NISMO is due to it just being released. American deliveries have only occurred in the last 3 months. Plus Nissan is being a little stingy with dealer allotments. Give it another 12 months. Won't flood the market... but there will be a good number of them sitting around, just like the 2014 NISMO right now. Plus all 370Z will get a huge price drop if and when the new Z comes out -- assuming you'd still want the outgoing model, after seeing all the goodies and love the incoming model will have.

Not sure why the thread should be locked... lots of threads around that discuss things and rumors and speculation.

Hadn't heard it drops 17% WOW ! The auto in the regular Z has good reviews...wonder why it would be different for the NISMO.

I enjoyed your speculation and thanks. :)

You make some good points.

From what I've read--speculation--and seen--more speculation--I don't like what I'm hearing about the redesign. Smaller engine with possible turbo option to get the HP back up. And some of the sketchy ideas on what it will look like don't look promising...but that's all speculation.

Thanks for your lengthy reply. :)

because they all turn into a 'wishlist' of how each person wants their glove custom fit. Someone wants the frill, another wants lace, another wants frilly lace...

but more serious note, the auto's are getting more efficient in keeping the flywheel power (older mt vs at debates you could definitely attribute less loss on a mt) but now technology is evening out the field... i wouldn't be surprised if the 'new' model comes out without a manual like the ge-re-tard (i love it though...)

OK so we beat up on the OP enogh probably eh?

So, OP, many rumors, all unsubstantiated. As Nargrakhan has pointed out, Nissan holds their cards pretty darn close. I have many items on a whishlist, none of which are likely and besides, I told my wife this would likely be the last car I buy. :rofl2:

I realized there would be no actual news. I thought maybe I would get some info from some people who have already scoured the web for it (and that way, I wouldn't need to go off on a search if people might chime in with there being nothing substantial yet). ;)

aside from a potential german partnersip (possible challenge to the toyota-bmw) on the engine, potential displacement drop and potential dissapointment from huge expectations... no nothing substantial :happydance:

in all honesty i much prefer the current Z with all its qwerks... it's what makes it the car that i decided to finance and not lease.

TOO LATE! i dropped the soap.. and the 'less than extra virgin' olive oil.

My speculation is that it will be built on the new Infinity Q50/60 platform. Essentially a reworked version of the same car. About the same size with more lightweight materials. A few inches trimmed here and there. Base engine will be the same VQ37VHR with around 350 HP. Again, just my own speculation. :tiphat:

i wasnt far behind you fp . i made 218 whp 259 tq on aam's dyno last fri ..

aam intakes , aam test pipes , nismo r exhaust ( this is where im guessing you got a few ponies on me ) and an uprev tune .. its funny same exact montery blue and damn near same whp .. long live the 7at .. hey i said id never own an at in a sports car but i have to give it to nissan this at is pretty damn fun ..

UNKNOWN_370 11-20-2014 06:20 PM

I'm just not sure why having a turbo Z would be niché in a niché market? The whole auto industry is going turbo. Even on basic vehicles

I think I may go back in spring for a re tune with my straight pipes. See if I put down more or less.

dont worry im not done .. i saw your numbers and mods before i went to aam to get tuned . i was hoping to be right there with you but i kinda figured the nismo r would hold me back a few hp . i picked it up for 350 bucks so kinda hard to turn down . eventually ill prolly go with the aam exhaust .. right now im in the process of getting the sus on the car and getting the body together .. my stillen bumper and shine spats are with my painter now . also got a set of evo r carbon side blades and im trying to get aerojacket to return my message so i can pick up a type 3 carbon spoiler . after the sus and the body im thinking of some long tube headers and possibly a motordyne intake . down the road a year or 2 ill be building the trans on boosting the old girl but for now staying na .

as far as changing the car for 2016 i think they might . they usually go 6 to 7 years as far as a run on a body and the 370 is pushing that now . the z32 had a little longer run in japan but not here .

z31 83 to 89
z32 90 to 96
z33 03 to 08
z34 09 to ?

id like to see a new chassis . they have always moved forward in the right direction when they release a new z .

I agree - I think we have another year or two for the Z34 platform. I will say what I can to avoid getting in trouble.

1) Remember the G37 Coupe? It came out in 2008, developed on the same FM platform as the Z34, which debuted in 2009.

2) The Detroit Auto Show is in January, which will debut the Q60.

#1: It will increase the cost of what many already consider an expensive overpriced sports car.

What if it shares components with another vehicle and doesn't have to increase costs as dramatically as you think? Say, it shared an engine with another vehicle or two?

What if it's not just about the HP boost that you would get, but the tuning potential for the overall package? Say, the car was boosted from the factory?

Quote:

#3: The boost wouldn't be impressive on paper to mainstream American buyers, because of the "HP War" that's getting a lot of market attention.
What if it's right in line with other offerings for a similar price point with similar power?

All I'm saying is... keep an eye on the upcoming Q60. History does indeed tend to repeat itself. Remember - the 350Z got a version of the HR motor before the full redesign of the motor debuted in the next gen G and Z.

It looks like the Q60 will be out October 2015 and the Z will be out the following year. Maybe June 2016?

They are selling the Q60, but in its current form, it's a rebadged G37 so it matches the rest of the Infiniti naming scheme that DeNysschen introduced during his 5 minute tenure of ******* Infiniti up before going to Cadillac.

mishuko 11-24-2014 10:47 AM

Ah! Sorta like bmw rebadging. Spend more money on marketing and forgot the r&d
