plan since I bought the Z was GT-R. some life things have come up (i.e. fiance', house, and wedding) that may be placed on a slight hold.
currently if all falls into place then I would love the next gen Z if and of course when it actually happens. if no Z then that Q60 would be a nice addition. however if the production model doesn't look good and the engine doesn't hook me then i'll move on. from there it's a tough decision. many ways to go just not sure. aside from the price the M4 has grown on me. but the way I would want it is 84K. for that I can get a Z06 or GT-R at the auction with a few dealer miles or whatnot on them. at the moment i'd like to stay with Nissan. so Z35, Q60, or GT-R is the next move depending on what happens with the next gens, timing, and my bank account lol

I think the Z is done in 16. High price and poor sales has made its demise.
I do have some small glimmer of hope tho....

I've said it before. The 370Z is probably my last car purchase. I'll be happy with what I have.
It is ... enough!

I'm sure Nissan is watching sales numbers. And if they are, a much more powerful Z should be in the works. These are US sales only, worldwide could be a different story.
FRS 2013 Year 18,327 Sold FRS 2014 Year 14,062 Sold 370Z 2013 Year 6,561 Sold 370Z 2014 Year 7,199 Sold Corvette 2013 Year 17,291 Sold, C7 introduced in last quarter of this year. Corvette 2014 Year 34,839 Sold Notice FRS #'s declined noticeably in year 2014 while the Z increased albeit slightly. FRS was introduced in mid 2012 and it was fresh and different. However the most likely trend of the FRS will be to decrease again in 2015, as power is still important to most sports car buyers. So if you're a savvy business owner, what market would you want to compete in? One that only had 14K in sales or one that had nearly 35K. Keep in mind, if you compete in the 14K FRS market, your price has to be a lot lower. Profits will be minimalized. A 2015 C7 now starts at $56K for the base 1LT and goes up from there. Imagine a base Z35 model with decent options, 410 hp DI TT, priced at $46K. Do you think this would cut into the C7 sales? The next question is, can Nissan produce a car for this price and make a decent profit? I believe they can as the dollar to yen ratio now should be helpful as well as their factories are already tooled to create great V6 engines. So lastly, a shout out to Nissan! If you make the new Z a FRS competitor, I'm out and on to a different brand as I'm sure the majority on this forum will do as well. A C7 competitor at $46K, sign me up! |

I agree with the fact of the FRS/BRZ was a cute little newcomer and sales declining isn't a surprise to me. think of it this way: Nissan has the rumors floating of a smaller engine level Z being possible. little 4 banger turbo. they can make that one to compete with the FRS with a price tag of 28-30k base. the FRS base is 26/27k for mt/at. if you can have a Z which is 100x better looking, feeling, driving, more powerful, etc for just a couple thousand more its a no brainer......unless you have no brain which I feel most FRS/BRZ owners don't. then you go and throw the TTV6 in a bigger money version of the Z like you said around 45K. my sticker on my 09 (still have it lol) was 44k. it's not out of the ordinary for it to be that high on a new model with more power. i'll certainly bite on it. throw in the fact that it could be up there power wise to the C7 and I just got a little wood.

The only thing that leads me to believe it might be auto-only are rumors that it will have a turbo+hybrid powertrain on offer. I have never seen a hybrid with a manual transmission outside of concept form, they always wind up with a funky CVT (99% of hybrids), torque converter (Infiniti Q50) or double clutch (McLaren P1).

I thought the hybrid theories were pretty old. I don't think they'll put something that fancy and expensive in the Z, especially when the GT-R will be a tt v6 + hybrid.
