2011 m3 coupe or 2015 nismo tech ? , both mt
($43K) 2011 white bmw m3 coupe mt, 30k miles, 4.0l V8 414hp, , fully loaded sports package, convince package, competition package, nav, cold weather package etc ..
It says "This M3 includes factory-backed 50,000 Mile Warranty protection for FREE until the end of 2014" , can this warranty be extended through BMW ? ALSO BMW FACTORY WARRANTY IS 4/50K , BUT WHY IS IT SAYING END OF 2014 WHEN 4 YEAR COMES AT THE END OF 2015 ?? only reason I'm kinda concern with this m3 is that the maintenance is too high on these cars ... or should i get the 2015 white nismo tech new for 44k ?

Get the Nismo. BMWs break like it's their job.

And lord help you if it's out of free-maint-world. The upkeep on a Bimmer is just dumb. 1700 for this... 1200 for this...

OP, the reason that M3 is available is that smart people dump their BMWs at 30k miles.

To put BMW money into perspective, I recently fixed up (flipped?) a 90's 740iL with valve cover gaskets, battery, alternator, minor hoses, oil change, spark plugs, 2 or 3 sensors, and a few small parts. Did all the labor myself, bought relatively inexpensive parts. Spent over $2,500. This is an old car with relatively simple/cheap electronics. Most cars that need this sort of minor work cost me around $450.
Hardly apples-to-apples, but for basic high-mileage maintenance this should paint some sort of a picture for you. Even on a bad Z with every common issue being fixed out of warranty, I would wager that you would still be spending less on the Z. PS. Do you still have to drop the engine to replace an M-series alternator? Last edited by dant1127; 11-12-2014 at 11:01 AM. |

OP the BMW is terrific. If you picked a 2011 Z you would still have plenty of money to make even more out of it.
Good luck no matter what you decided.

Actually, it's probably because BMW does so many leases and around 30K is usually a pretty standard mileage allowance. So, in this case, you get a car with low mileage, that you know was taken care of because of the free maintenance they provide on new vehicles. I would go with the M3. More power, a back seat (even if it is small, its a practical thing to have), the V8 sound, and in my opinion, more fun to drive.

Actually, the BMW E92 M3 is one of the most reliable cars BMW ever built. As a matter of fact, We actually have an employee on staff with an '11 M3 with DCT. He beats the living crap out of the car all day every day. Drives it harder than 95% of M3 owners. 71k on the clock. He's finally getting to use his extended warranty. For his amp and subwoofer. Can't break the actual car, but he did blow up the stereo. #winning.

You are definitely going to be playing with fire err.... money with the BMW. I would pick the brand new Z with a warranty.

I think, big assumption here, the 'amazing German' engineering does its special work on the turbo engines. Probably why they switched out the v8 in favor of snails
