i would love to get the Bimmer -- but I am still too young visioning myself in a sedan/coupe. Perhaps in 10 years, I can frankly tell you to go with the bimmer.
In the meantime, since you are concerned with the maintenance, go with the Z. Yes, each one will eventually need repairs but the Z would be cheaper. Btw, call the BMW and I bet the warranty can be extended --- assuming you really want the Bimmer. I almost bought a 740il and that's why I know about extending the warranty.
