in need of some friendly help..
Well,
The time has finally come to give backy my G35 and get into the Z ive been waiting for. I cant seem to find many dealers that have these things in stock so decideding on what to do has become a little bit of a pain. My question is over here in canada the option for sport pkg is $4000 and the option for nav is $2000. I wont be able to afford to have both so i must decide between the two. I really dont mind the Touring pkg and what it comes with(being our base model in CAnada)), but of course the sport give you much more. And as for the nav.. a couple friends of mine have nav in their car and say they either never use it or that its ****. Does anyone have any video's or picture they can post up on the Nav unit for the Z and how it operates. Also i think i already have my answer but just incase... is it DVD based? Thanks a bunch! |

Sports package all the way. Rims... bigger tires.. VDC.. bigger brakes..im sure im leaving something amazing out. Nav package is decent.. but you could get much better with after market.

I have sport and nav and would take sport over nav any day. The SRM is awesome, and while the nav works just fine and looks great, the sport package is way better.

Sports package hands down. Its really a no-brainer - well if you want the 370Z as a sports car that is.... do you want to know where you are going or get lost fast?

I picked the Nav pkg over the sport because personally I go road trips often and get lost plenty Beside, I did not think I would benefit much from the sport pkg cause I do not push it much. After having the nav. It looks nice but not too smart in my opinion. Very limited option compare to the Pioneer Aviz Z2 I had. Here is my story on my last trip.
I was doing to Oxnard from Sacramento, when a person looking at a map, he would go from I5 then CA126 west. but the Nav pointed me to I5 all the way to 101, then go up north. This is calculated as "shortest time" I did not like the route so I changed it to "shortest distance" It routed me from I5 to some small street for 5 miles then CA126. I bet it is shortest distance but it takes things too literally and lack of human intelligence. So overall, it works but not as intuitive as human so it can get annoying. |

Sorry for double reply. To answer your last question. It does not recognize DVD. Came with Ipod connector + AV & inputs (do not know if this part is std or not but mine has them)

I picked this up on Amazon.com on clearance (they still have them at this price):
Garmin nüvi 780 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator with MSN Direct Service List price is $699.00 but they are on sale for $199. It fits in the dash cubby and I made a small rectangular wedge out of foam covered in black felt to keep it in place. It has bluetooth capability that works great too. I also bought this: Griffin Noise Reducing Audio Cable for iPod, iPhone or MP3 player and ran it into the AUX connection on the stereo. Using an 8 Gb SD Disk I burned about 50 CDs to it and now have a nice size music library stored on my Garmin that plays out of my stereo. Poor man's nav package that didn't cost me $2000 and I have been extremely happy with the setup. |
