Getting in/out of 370z
So I tried using the search but didnt see anything so am i the only one who is curios about this or do i now know how to search. How does everyone get in and out of there Z. Getting in to the z doesnt seem as bad i just kinda drop myself into the car lol :ugh2: but getting out of the car i usually stick left leg out and use my left elbow on the seat bolster as leverage and push myself out :icon23:. I havent thought of any other way. i dont mind it i do it on a daily basis and its not like my car is slammed to the floor just on swift springs but i do kinda notice that it seems like my seat bolster is starting to show some wear.

You think its bad now, you should see me try and do it gracefully in front of some hot girls with the brides! Lol

I need a step stool.

I tried out a Nismo Juke a few days ago. Seats are very comfortable, but I can't imagine slamming my hip into that side bolster on the seat everyday getting in and out.
|
Yup. 60K miles and my driver side bolster nearest the door is definitely showing signs of wear.
|
Leather?
|
Nope. Cloth. I expect leather would wear even faster.
|
i dont think the leather would wear as fast but maybe wrinkle and get cracked pushing those 190lbs daily on it im sure would take a toll. Just thought it was funny to see if everyone gets out of it the same way fitting in the car isnt the issue im not super tall or wide. Leg days at the gym and after a massive feast are always fun to get out of too lol
|
I gracefully fall in (I am a goalie and used to falling) and then push off somewhat to miss the side bolster (reduce wear). Getting out is not a problem.

Speaking of which - anyone know where I can get some dye (black interior)? Just hit up a local upholsterer, or does Nissan sell the correct matching dye? |

i dont know how i get in and out, i dont pay attention nor do anything special.
i just make sure i dont scuff anything with my shoes while getting in/out. |

I've always avoided putting pressure on the bolsters when getting in/out of my cars. Probably why my seats in my 113k mile G35 I traded in for the Z looked pretty good and the seats looked brand new when I traded in my 21k mile Z.
I put my right leg in, grab the steering wheel, and "fall" into the car while pulling myself with the wheel to guide me away from the bolsters. Getting out, I do the opposite... Left leg out, grab onto the steering wheel, and pull myself up with trying to avoid the bolsters at all costs. |
:iagree:
I use the steering wheel. TBH it was nice having a working ESCL that would keep the steering wheel locked in place when I used it as support for getting in and out :icon17: But I just make sure to put my hand in a place on it that won't make it turn when I apply pressure. Also, I'm a bigger guy at 6'1" 225+ lbs (closer to 240 right now), and it's virtually impossible for me not to rub the bolsters at least a little. It's also difficult for me to avoid smacking my size 12 boots on the lower panel and/or door panel when exiting the vehicle. I just treat those panels with Super VRT every so often and they still look practically new. My wife put a hole in the rubber seal with a stiletto heel back when she was driving it. |

You need a strong left leg...

I dropped my backpack on my illuminated kickplate and dented it a few months ago. Still pissed about that one, but I'm hoping a PDR guy can get rid of it for me if I uninstall it and bring it to him. |
I crawl in through the hatch, and exit the same to reduce bolster wear. also helps from dinging doors on curbs, and others junk cars.

My short 93 yr old grandma had trouble getting out of the old 1990 300zx. My friends kids were complaining about how hard it was getting out of my Z last week. I just kind of roll out. When I get in I hit my head. Not a big fan of the entrance.

I've had been using the left elbow push myself out method.
I recently discovered a new method I grab the door at the red arrow (see photo) and pull while standing up. I'm 48 years old and in decent shape I had no problems getting out of my G35c 6MT but the 370 can be a little challenging. |
Gee, I am 67, 5' 8" tall and have no problem getting in and out of my "Z."
|
I climb out the driver side window then again I also slide over the hood.
|
Getting in and out if my Z sitting on coils and in high heels gracefully in front of cute dudes is never good for me. Sometimes I try to wait them out but alot of times they wait around to see who gets out. So funny, my lesson don't wear heels!
|
At 6'4" I put my left hand on the door sill then my right forearm on the center console and lift myself up out of the seat and then rotate my body to get both my feet out the door at the same time. Then I move my right hand to the steering wheel for any additional leverage should I be in a tight spot where the door can't open wide. I found this method puts the least amount of rub on the bolsters and least amount of foot banging into the door and kick panels.

We need videos.

Just roll out and fall on the ground like you do when you get out of bed half asleep...LOL I just put my left hand on the door kick panel and roll out.
|
I get out from my window cause NASCAR
|
Right leg in, grab steering wheel, aim butt directly between bolsters, fall.
Left leg out, turn without hitting bolsters, push up with left leg... asymmetric leg muscles ftw. Keeps road rash off the seats. After owning a 4th gen f-body, I wouldn't recommend putting any force on the doors or steering wheel. Dunno if our Zs will have any issues later on but a sagging door and loose steering wheel are no fun. |
Yep. That's exactly what I do.
|
Simplest method--even a small child can do it:
You put your left foot in. You put your left foot out. You put your left foot in And you shake it all about. |
Does anyone else grunt every time? :p
It's even more of a headache at my height. I stick my left leg out and it barely clears the top of the side skirt, no where near touching the ground. I've got to push off of that and I can hear my FRP side skirts creaking each time. :shakes head: |

I kick my Amuse side skirts all the damn time due to its design. It is literally like a skirt where it flows outwards towards the bottom. I am also lowered.
You guys should see me get in and out of the car when I'm parked in my (left side) 2 door garage. lmao |
All in the name of beauty.
