I've always avoided putting pressure on the bolsters when getting in/out of my cars. Probably why my seats in my 113k mile G35 I traded in for the Z looked pretty good and the seats looked brand new when I traded in my 21k mile Z.

I put my right leg in, grab the steering wheel, and "fall" into the car while pulling myself with the wheel to guide me away from the bolsters. Getting out, I do the opposite... Left leg out, grab onto the steering wheel, and pull myself up with trying to avoid the bolsters at all costs.

I use the steering wheel. TBH it was nice having a working ESCL that would keep the steering wheel locked in place when I used it as support for getting in and out But I just make sure to put my hand in a place on it that won't make it turn when I apply pressure.

Also, I'm a bigger guy at 6'1" 225+ lbs (closer to 240 right now), and it's virtually impossible for me not to rub the bolsters at least a little. It's also difficult for me to avoid smacking my size 12 boots on the lower panel and/or door panel when exiting the vehicle. I just treat those panels with Super VRT every so often and they still look practically new. My wife put a hole in the rubber seal with a stiletto heel back when she was driving it.

i would have been pissed, just like when ex gf getting out of the passanger seat jammed her heel into the aluminum lighted up sill plates and left a nice nickle size dent.

It was her DD at the time, so I couldn't say a thing. It's bugged me for the last two years since the car became my DD. Unfortunately, its stupid expensive for what it is (like $300+). There are a large number of other things I will be spending that money on before I get around to replacing it.

I dropped my backpack on my illuminated kickplate and dented it a few months ago. Still pissed about that one, but I'm hoping a PDR guy can get rid of it for me if I uninstall it and bring it to him.

I crawl in through the hatch, and exit the same to reduce bolster wear. also helps from dinging doors on curbs, and others junk cars.

My short 93 yr old grandma had trouble getting out of the old 1990 300zx. My friends kids were complaining about how hard it was getting out of my Z last week. I just kind of roll out. When I get in I hit my head. Not a big fan of the entrance.

I've had been using the left elbow push myself out method.

I recently discovered a new method I grab the door at the red arrow (see photo) and pull while standing up.

I'm 48 years old and in decent shape I had no problems getting out of my G35c 6MT but the 370 can be a little challenging.

Getting in and out if my Z sitting on coils and in high heels gracefully in front of cute dudes is never good for me. Sometimes I try to wait them out but alot of times they wait around to see who gets out. So funny, my lesson don't wear heels!

At 6'4" I put my left hand on the door sill then my right forearm on the center console and lift myself up out of the seat and then rotate my body to get both my feet out the door at the same time. Then I move my right hand to the steering wheel for any additional leverage should I be in a tight spot where the door can't open wide. I found this method puts the least amount of rub on the bolsters and least amount of foot banging into the door and kick panels.
