Why does the 370z get so much disrespect...

It also depends on the power curve. I do not remember seeing comparison curves between the Nismo & say sport, but peak power means nothing, it's how the power comes on, where the usable power is & how it hits the ground if at all.

I think they are too..... dare I say it ricey, gody looking for lack of a better word. With the big *** wing and ugly rear bumper, their just not my cup of tea.. I'd rather have a clean lined standard car with little add ons lips ect... Please don't take offense I'm not talking **** about the nismo owners. I just personally don't care for them. Then on top you really just get a bodykit and slightly better exhaust, tune, nismo rays wheels which look a little better than the sport wheels not much. Not worth it IMHO. I'd rather put the 8-10k w/e it costs into other things.

Yes I did test drive a 2013 nismo and it felt substantially slower than the sport/touring that ended up buying. Those few extra rpms make quite a difference on the powerband.

The HP and tq peak at a higher rpm due to the higher redline than the base. So it tales longer to get into the power band.

I did consider the FR-S. But it didn't really present the value the Z did when you are looking for a sports car. It's a Celica... and a very pricey one at that. I like it for a lot of reasons, but just like the two celicas I owned, it's a sporty car not a sports car.

Another reason is that the 370z is a fine looking car, a car that looks like it will be a classic. It doesn't really seem trendy, it has a nice curve reminding me of a beefier 928s Porsche. Every time I park, I look back at least once at that sexy wide booty.

The 370z gets disrespected for a few reasons. Its a niche car. There aren't any other actual competitors in its price range that you can compare apples to apples. Its a 2 seater sports car. So, it is often compared to the Mustang GT and Camaro SS. Sports cars and muscle cars are two different things. So when compared, the Zs power is lacking.

Another thing is the Z isn't the best at anything, but it is pretty good in most areas. Therefore its looked over by most bloggers and critics because there is another car that "outshines" the Z in a specific category, and they glorify it for that.

It seems that even Nissan has forgotten about the car which also adds to the flame. Look at the FRS/BRZ. The marketing on that car has teenagers/young adults believing its the best car under a million dollars. Most magazine articles, blogs, big name video reviews swing on the testicles (or lack there of) of this car like Tarzan. When was the last time you saw a Z commercial? The last time I saw one wasn't even a Z commercial. It was a guy stretching his Z into a Maxima. It has also had very minor "updates".

The aftermarket for the Z is also pretty slim compared to other sporty cars. Not to mention expensive when talking about other similarly priced vehicles aftermarket choices.

As to why the FRS/BRZ guys are hating, probably because they are internet warriors who have never driven a 370z. People read things on the internet and take it for gold rather than doing their own personal research. They repeat information someone else has said as something they know as fact. I don't say anything about the FRS/BRZ's driving characteristics because I have never driven one.

Prepare to be underwhelmed. My bothers friend bought a brand new brz premium when they first came out. Pre ordered it like 1 year ahead of time and everything. He didn't know **** about cars but because he heard they were going to be the next big thing. He bought it 33k out the door. Then I bought my 370z and he drove it, he hates himself now to say the least.

Seriously though, I remember the BRZ STI rumors, which was to be a turbo'd BRZ. If they built a BRZ with a STi engine, RWD, Brembos and a better suspension/ wider wheels and tires, I'd trade in the Z tomorrow. Period.

Yeah but if it came to be, judging by the cost of a regular brz it would cost probably 1-2k more than a wrx sti.

I kinda agree, but I tell you I had more fun in my ex's underpowered YARIS over the FRZ. The Yaris isn't writing checks it can't cash.
