My brother has a FRS. The Z spanks the poop out of it in every aspect I could think of.
FRS gets better MPG than the Z

You'd be foolish to fault the BRZ/FRS in anything performance wise. It's an impressive car... except that they are SEVERELY underpowered, like not even close to a 370z as far as power and speed goes. They handle and feel like a dream, but they are alot like what my 95 miata was back in the day. Fun as hell to drive, and an ego builder, then you run into a sports car that handles well and has POWER and you get your *** whipped lol. I chose the 370Z over a FRS a month ago and I haven't looked back. In my first auto-x, I was a couple seconds behind a FRS with wide Hankook RS3's with my bone stock 370z base. I feel I would have been just as fast if not faster if I had RS3's and not the garbage advan sports in 225/245 sizes. At the end of the day it's all about personal preference, and what you want in a car. The 370Z is great because it has power, and it still handles and feels like a sports car...because it is!. I would say the Z is more of a handful to drive however, at least in stock form. The FRS/BRZ is a momentum car that is easier to control and handle, but not as fast. That's what I took from it anyways.

I have seen 6 different FRS's in 1 week on the road. In 6 months I have only seen 4 different 370's on the road. I don't know what this means exactly. Maybe price, maybe preference, IDK. I can tell you that I am on my 3rd 370z, the first 2 I sold, and finally got a Nismo. For me its not just the performance, because you can always make it stronger, more agile, better handling etc etc. It is about the design, and all thought put into creating 370z. I almost got a 350z at one point when there were no 370s, but I opted for a G35 instead, and I was extremely happy with my choice. Nothing against 350z owners but IMHO the 350z was missing something. The 370 has it all IMHO, it looks extremely classy, it performs very well, it feels and drives like a sports car. I did consider an FRS before I picked up the Nismo, but after seeing so many of them on the road, it kind of turned me off. Your best bet would be to drive them both before you decide, and take lots of pictures of everything, exterior, interior, cabin, under the hood, under carriage. Ask yourself if you can see yourself driving that car. Then research the SPEC's and weigh your options. Consider all the pros and cons of each vehicle and then make your decision. You can listen to peoples advice, but ultimately it comes down to what you want to see and feel when you get behind the wheel. 370z = "Sports Car"....FRS = "Sports Coupe"

I really enjoyed the FRS that I drove actually. They're fun cars. Just not quite as fun as the Z in my opinion.

The BRZ/FRS's are great cars............for beginners. Once you mastered it, then move up. The next step is the 370Z. I've yet had one of those BRZ/FRS's stay in my mirror for any length of time on the track.

^^^^ keep that in mind, then keep in mind that I bought my 2014 Z with 4k on it, from a dealer, under factory warranty AND with a certified pre-owned warranty, for as much as a new BRZ/FRS goes for. It was technically used, but it's pretty freakin close to new. Add a couple grand to the price for a new one

When the FRS came out as a concept I thought "what an awesome looking car" and rumors were flying around about a possible 300 hp engine, I was sold. I could not wait until it came out.
When it finally came out, reality hit. 200HP engine, styling was not quite the same (not as aggressive as the concept), had to buy it as Scion (no FRS for Canada). Even then I figured I'd give it a chance. It was fun to drive, but then I thought "I am basically replacing my Celica with a rear wheel drive Celica" and I did not see the point in that.
Then I laid my eyes on a Z and the rest was history.

People are buying those cars at MSRP at around 30k. Those cars look amazing, and are fun cars from what i gathered but are too much coin for what you get.

If the FRS/BRZ actually had a decent interior and not that awful excuse for an interior and a more powerful engine i would say that it would be worth the asking price.

A Miata is a more logical and economical choice for a slow car that feels fun.

30k? Jeeesus that's a huge markup, or like fully optioned out. The ones I saw were like 26-27, which is about what I paid for the Z. The special edition FRS that just came out is like 30k.

I like the 86 platform only after it has been modded - including the stupid "Rocket Bunny" kit even though it is played out. Yes that vehicle is underpowered but how many of us have been in a car we considered over-powered?

Like the z34 I think the 86 is a great platform for starting a build - although there isn't any sense in comparing stock Z to FRS/BRZ (apples to oranges) Like anything else you can build a very potent FRS/BRZ if you are willing to invest the time and money to do so. Here is link to 400-500 hp BRZ

Nearly 500-HP Turbo Subaru BRZ Tested on New Ignition

certainly nothing to scoff at for a light weight car that starts around 25-30k

Like everyone else here I am happy with my zed as it was the best fit for me.

The prius tires did it in for me. The stock wheels are donuts. Yes it makes it a blast to throw around but if you're looking for any type of speed, get ready to pay for it.

Honestly I feel like my fellow Z friends are very nice to speak about the TOYODA in a way, I've driven the car and no offense it's a POS the takeoff as said above is nonexistent and the interior looks god awful. I keeping my opinion as is don't think of the car as even remotely in the same class. I'll be bold enough to say any year miatas are for myself much funner. The brz does handle well for the 2k weight pos that it is. I hope I wasn't too harsh or maybe I was but Fk it. 20 grand for a car like that? All the owners have is ITS FUN ITS FUN.... Yeah take your fun car and gtfo.

I hope I didn't disrespect any owners or anything these Are just my opinions

The Z is a man's car. The FRS is so slow and boring.
